Went for the John Cooper Works ! Arrives on Monday, engine from the 228i in a small car, how can those Bavarians be wrong?
Yeah BMW have nailed it with the new Mini (unless you're a classic purist) - the handling is so darty, lots and lots of fun to drive and very well refined. The interior has sparked much debate, some love it (me) because it borrows a lot of "grown up" bits from a BMW, but some find it too BMW which takes away from the quirkiness of the 2001 re-birth. Even the new 3 cylinder engines are decent, you'd have thought they were a bag of spanners but they're strong and revvy.
Excellent choice, I imagine that car with a 2 litre turbo and the Works treatment will be quite a weapon, I expect pics on Monday.
Bit I was most impressed with is the interior - it's the first Mini interior I have hated, presumably because it's more like a BMW inside. Now trying to talk the missus into a Cooper. She does less than 1000 miles a year, but clearly requires a brand new Mini. Which I can drive
