I never understood UKs hate of ID cards. But we have had this discussion countless times :)
Everytime a British politician mentions ID cards, we think of SS guards demanding papers off jews, it will never happen....well we will probably make muslims have them soon, cos we don't trust them.

I hope you see the irony in that statement :D

I dont have a problem with the ID cards as it makes everything faster when dealing with public services

Estonia is not some banana republic it is a modern western society if you do something the government doesnt like but which is perfectly legal they cant do shit

Unlike you know in the UK where you can be locked up on suspicion of terrorism without charge or legal representation ;)

Stood at work having a quick smoke and a vulcan bomber flies over. Which was nice.
Amazing aircraft, saw one do a barrel roll at Greenham Common many years ago. The american airman standing close by were totally awestruck.

It banked quite hard as it went past and came round again for some reason, seemed to be over the town (I work just outside of town) I read that they are doing fly-pasts of sites related to its history but couldn't find anything related in Northampton so not sure why it wanted to see it twice, once is normally enough for anyone.

yes, yes, the oh so innocent first steps, you have a lot to learn.

Anyway, came to post this...very NSFW and the site is full of crazy japcomic furry porn, but no malware or crazy scripts/popups, just a good place to find the latest 3D smut, there two Tomb Raider comics are just awesome, the quality of the backgrounds and the modelling is superb...only softcore as well.

When Job, the king of misunderstanding technology and all things modern says "no malware or crazy scripts/popups" you know not to touch it.

But does the British Government have a history of going from 1 to 100 and screwing everyone? The difference between helpful ID card to a bit of plastic that can get you arrested if you fail to carry it is so extreme I just can't see it happening.

And the first thing I would do for everyone coming to the UK on any kind of Visa would be to issue an ID card with Biometrics which would make finding a doing something about people who overstay much easier. It would also stop people coming back and using a different name.

I think its a bit of a hang up from Labour who were desperate to know what everyone was doing all the time. Having said that the Tories seem to be going down that route too now, what with the snoopers charter and whatnot.

Exactly what they do in the Middle East but this was mainly to get around the banned workers that used to fly home get a new passport under a new name and come back :) Funny how India allows that to happen. Mate of mine runs a cement company and one of best drivers was due to retire (60 and enforced retirement under labour law) he went home on holiday came back a month later with a new passport, same name but now 3 years younger!

Agreed, the whole "if your a good citizen you have nothing to worry about message" is very iffy at best. The nanny state labour thing was slightly different. Now its all anti terrorism etc.

Frankie Boyle removed from Mock The Week.

Nevermind the Buzzcocks cancelled.

Stephen Fry stepping down as host on QI.

What are they doing to comedy in the beeb.

Frankie Boyle wasn't removed, he left.
Buzzcocks was nearly 20 years old, and frankly had been rubbish since Mark Lamarr left
Stephen Fry leaving QI is a loss (not least because Sandi Toskvig is tedious), but once again, his choice.

Bigger question is why the comedy output on the BBC is either ancient game shows, repeats of American cartoons, or Mrs. Brown's Boys (*shudders*). I'm struggling to think of the BBC's last really good home grown comedy. That Peter Kaye thing last summer was alright I suppose...

The BBC don't do comedy any more, nor drama, nor decent documentaries (Perhaps one or two a year)

In fact they pretty much don't do anything.

If was a sub rather than a forced tax I would have fucked it off years ago.

They have stretched themselves too thin with all the channels and having to try and fill them with no extra income. They should roll it back to basics rather than job creation for the Islington cardigan mafia.

Iplayer is OK to catch up on the single program in their entire output, Have I got news for you.

Its just a trainwreck that needs to be put out of its misery.

Frankie Boyle was more or less bullied out because of his humour was too extreme, but he was the only one who pushed boundaries on that show and made it funny, he flopped after that, his solo shows were terrible and his political views were meh-ish.

I enjoyed Buzzcocks, it was just a bit of harmless comedy which defied conventions.

Not what the man himself said

Buzzcocks was fantastic when it started out but it needed taking out and shooting by the end. Doesn't help that the music industry itself is beyond parody by this stage.

I agree about the TV output, I can't remember the last show the BBC made that I've watched. However the radio output is probably worth the license fee alone.

I don't want to offend anybody but, everyone I have ever met who likes Mrs Browns Boys has always been a thick cunt.

It is the worst excuse for comedy I have ever seen, the guy who plays Mrs Brown is very entertaining when being himself though.

Edit - I watched Mr. Holmes last night which is a BBC funded film, that was brilliant, well no the acting and scenery was brilliant and it is a must watch.

I tried watching Mrs Browns boys at the beginning when everyone was going on about it. I watched 2 episodes and just didn't find it funny, I didn't even chuckle

That said, the guy who plays 'her' was on QI a year or so ago, and as @Trem said, he was really good and entertaining

Sad about Stephen Fry stepping down from QI, but I quite like Sandy Toksvig so hopefully it will carry on in the same vein, and Alan Davies is still going to be the regular guest

Tbh I stopped watching QI a while back, Fry and Davies were still excellent, but it frequently just became a circle jerk between the remaining 3 panel hosts. Far too much David Mitchell on it as well, smug self satisfied hypocritical arsewipe that he is. I can see why the BBC love him though, very right on (especially for a public schoolboy).

And don't get me started on Mrs Browns Boys - maybe I didn't have the required lobotomy to understand it, but is is just awful. It should be shown on Blackpool Pier, not prime time on the fucking BBC.

Fully agree that recent BBC Comedy has left a lot to be desired - only thing I can think that they've done is Bad Education, which was sub-Inbetweeners based drivel.

Sad that a once great organisation is reduced to this - only consistently funny thing they've done recently was a motoring show for God's sake!
