Its really not. Kids car seats are not designed (mostly) to allow you to easily unlock their seats, so you have open the door to full width, lean in, or on the slightly older age-group, across, to unclip. Try doing it in a normal width car park space and a. you've got a better than evens chance of whacking the car next to you, because even if you're careful, chanced are flailing toddler legs aren't, and b. a fair chance of dislocating anything from your hip on up (this actually happened to my...step-sister...I guess...not used to thinking I have step-brothers and sisters...and that was in an enormous American sized car park). This is all a function of child safety legislation and massive kid seats (it's also a big reason for the popularity of SUVs).

Now, Scouse is technically correct, this is as much marketing as practicality, but so fucking what? They spend more money than you.

And fwiw I've seen pensioner spaces in supermarket car parks. And women only? Yep, that's been done as well...

Yup they spend more money than me and my wife. However we just have car with kids and disabled at my town. And i think the ladies parking wasnt a supermarket iirc. Old peope have more troubles with their cooridnation and joint mobility than others but i never seen spaces for them.

If you say. Then its like kids, old peeps, disabled all out rank those outside those categories. Apart from disabled i dont see why. If the kids have an issue with parking space then ok they are young tho so can walk further and shouldnt be right next to the store entrance. Give them extra space at the back of tha car park. They never be used then

But tbh - I'm with @Tom. All spaces should be bigger. In my experience the vast majority of supermarket car parks are only ever at worst 50% full - so they could technically afford to make all the spaces twice the size. So a couple of feet extra width would solve the problem.

But yeah, I'm a parent and I think parents with massive 4x4's and the like are for the most part arrogant cunts when it comes to the school run etc. The explosion of the Qasquiaishai or whatever the fuck it's called, that Renault thing (yes it is a Renault thing, I know it has a Nissan badge) has sped up the growth of the utter prick on the road, show me one of those and I guarantee the driver will be speeding/parked badly etc. If you have kids and need something to cater for those kids then you need a Touran or a Zafira or something like that, yes you won't think you are posh and becks in it but it is practical and people won't think you are a fucking cunt.

MPVs as a category are dying on their arse. Women like the "safety" of an SUV (even though its entirely an illusion), helped along by really cheap Korean SUVs that make people feel like they're getting a shitload of car for their money (even if its kind of crap). And yes, they're badly parked because they're two sizes bigger than the Peugeots or Fiestas most of these women have traded up from, and they have no idea how to drive them.

Personally I'd have an S-Max over most SUVs for hauling kids about, but in reality I'm a minority. Even Renault, basically the inventors of the MPV, have had to butch up the latest Espace with big wheels and other pseudo offroad crap to make it have a chance in the market:

(its actually a decent car but they're not going to sell it in the UK at all). NB. The Qashquai is entirely a Nissan, and Renault have actually borrowed the design for their own new SUV.

NB. I too like those Volvo XC90s but I don't have the 80,000 euros one costs over here. Lovely interior though.

Huh, I was not hip to that fact. I always thought Renault had bought Nissan (I'm basing that on somebody telling me a few years ago that the latter were up to their tits in debt and Renault bought them for € 1 and didn't bother investigating it further) and therefore had access to all of their IP re: SUVs etc. I didn't realise it was a partnership.

And on the ownership thing Nissan own 30% of Renault and Renault own 40% (i think mightnbe higher tho) of Nissan creating an alliance, its mostly logistics and technology sharing

I worked for Nissan for a few years and the combo of Japanese/French bureaucracy was pure joy (not)
