I think the one thing that got me the most cred with my customers was when I told them I didn't know a thing instead of trying to cover by waffling on. this happened a few times and everyone was totally cool. fun fact: we have a field expert who knows everything about everything, and they all hate him. psychology eh!

In my experience it's never bad to admit you don't know something as long as you know where to go for the info
