Could any wise chap tell me what type of damage the theurgist pets do ?

I assume that the Air and Ice pets range attacks are Air and Ice damage, but what about in hand to hand ?

And what about the Earth pet ? Is it doing crush damage or does it count as an Earth attack ?

Thanks in advance for any help on this.

They do Gimp Damage. Everyone has 100% Gimp resist, as you know. :)

Erm not really if specced right :p besides i use air nukes and they kick ass hehe:D

You mean you can spec your pets into doing decent damage at lvl 50? Please show me your spec then, Matt? :p

It depends on enemies resists for the pet to damage mainly besides i seen a guy on alb/excal who does 400 damage with his he even posted screenies.

Well i'd assume that earth pets do crush damage at any rate.

And air pets do either crush or spirit i guess. To the original poster though: air pets never to ranged damage - they melee only just like earth pets.

400 damage? Per hit? Sounds like fantasy to me.

Oh wait.. this is a fantasy game.. hmm why did that never happen for me then? :)

air pets let you do that nasty chain stunning thing tho don't they?

Yes they do,levin i have seen roni kill a yellow con mid with one pet once nearly so....

They used to Mal, think they stopped em from doing the chain stun.

afaik they changed it so they stun less in rvr.. however there is still no immunity timer for this stun so if spammed with enough pets...

Except each pet costs 12% of your power, and you're lucky if they even reach target before their timer runs out. :) Hehe, sorry for being a sour puss. ;)

Matt is like a walking lamp post and when something hits him he goes down like emile heskey:) (oops liverpool supporters might flame me now:rolleyes: )

Hmmm i might summon one pet onto you mal so you are stunned and poke you with my staff a few times then leg it hehe.

hehe, you wouldn't get far with snare ;)

seriously tho, in a 1 vs 1, a theurg will do far better vs me than a wizzie would

Nice to see a theurgist who enjoys his character, and an enemy player acknowledging that they are a decent class. Far too many theurgists (and other classes to be fair!) complaining that they're 'not viable in RvR' and other such self pittying rhubarb.

That 12% pet casting cost is based on your power pool after base intel but before buffs and item stats. Any additional items that add +Int then add to that power pool so the 12% cost actually becomes much lower, also the focus staff equipped has a huge bearing on the total power cost per cast as well. Eg;

With a 50 Earth Focus staff, 228 Int and highest level earth pet spell it is possible to spam cast 13-14 (dependant on serenity and acuity) earth pets which equals anywhere from 7.0-7.5% of total power per cast.

Tests show that all elemental damage in melee is slash. Thread about it here.

Hmmmm

Yesterday i was chattin with an earth theurgist who was playing in lancelot.He was specced like this:
Earth magic:50 +17
Ice magic :20 it doesent matter :)

Well he told me that with a single pet he could wipeout a kobbie caster.Well most of the times pets get rooted or mezzed but if the
theurgist can help the pets to reach his target without being stopped then it is death for the target.There was a log he showed me (soz dont have the link) where he was testing pet damage on a mid runie.The damage was like 400+ every hit.This damage can be compared with the damage a purp mob does on me.The strategy he was using was to sent one or two pets,then spam a low level ice spec nuke on the target so that the target will be snared and interupted so that he wont be able to either stop or escape from the pet.

But lets face it is hard to play a theurgist like this, the target will have friends to help him (a healer will be enough).On the other hand ice pets are also usefull but only to interupt casters and archers on keep sieging and Xmg warfare.The best pets in my opinion are air.And believe me they are not nerfed<grins>.Since my respec to air i do by far more damage,and i have killed many enemies with elements, and won many battles with my mediocre(by may people) air mez.

So i strongly believe air is the best spec for RvR warfare.But a hybrid of earth and ice is far better than air in PvE.The choise however is yours.

Gotta love it when Albion has 3+ Theurgists on the battlefield, all spamming pets at the enemy, as far as I know its quite scary and I'm sure I have seen Mids back off a bit cos of this before now.

Well turamber theurgists can be very good in rvr with air spec my nuke cap is 689 at the moment hehe thats dam good for a theurg,besides the amount of sbs in emain lately makes it hard for us to get anywhere unless we with zerg or around 5+ people.

Think my record nuke so far was 1k on a blue con sm:D

Actually I have done, not to level 50 obviously though.

There are posts on these boards from theurgists, paladins, minstrels, clerics, thanes, warriors (and a few other classes) complaining that they're not viable blah blah blah. Just because they can't solo the entirety of the opposing realm they seem to think their class is broken.

As far as any whining player is concerned, try playing your class in RvR REGULARLY and you will find out what you can do well, and how to minimise your deficiencies. Find people to group with who you work well with and keep you alive - which is particularly important for any caster class.

And Sru there are plenty of theurgists who RvR regularly and don't spend all their time playing level 10 alts or posting moaning comments on this forum.

Yes Matt, I've grouped with Teoz a fair few times and he sure knows how to get the best out of his class. Like yourself I don't believe in gimped classes - just gimped players who rather get under my skin.

Try my class regularly in rvr?????don't make me laugh i had 100k at lv43 or so besides as soon as i left the apk i was ganked non stop one day wheres the fun in that???anyway i don't expect the class to solo everything,wait until you see me return as the way i used to be one of the top 3 theurgs in albion at one time.
