:( that sux m8!
who did you give your password of your account to?
i dont think anyone can log your account without password?
maybe you can track down from that?
i dont know about goa, i'm sure they dont hack your account and steal, but i think our own account is our responsibility.

change your password regularly might help m8.
hope you can sort this soon m8

if you shared your account with someone or gave out your PW i dont think they will do anything.
you didnt mention if it was hacked or something so not sure.
i know they have replaced artifacts that where bound to a char before but thats bout it.

if you where hacked make sure you ask them to give you the IP of the hacker it should be tracable .

not sure bout denmark but in germany you cant really get them for anything legally in the US you could press charges on the hacker.

sorry for your loss

Compare it to this :

You give your house keys to someone, and come home and find your house emptied....

Oke, the thief is to blame for stealing it, but you shouldn't have given your keys to him

Wise words.

Theres other precautions to take like not having your account details stored on your computer or email, this is where the good old paper and pen comes back into action, chuck out that super duper computer with lots of memory!

Sucks tbh tho, wish people wouldn't take what isn't theirs, wish people was nicer in the world. :(

GOA will investigate the incident, and if they find an obvious “hacker” will most likely ban his account. You are very unlikely to get your money/items back. It is pretty impossible to “hack” into your account; you most likely had a bad secret Hotmail question or left it lying around on your HD or desk.

don't think my personal security is any worse then the rest of the daoc comunity... PWs are stored in a file well hiden, not very likely that any1 would find it even if they spend weeks/months looking...

about the stuff missing, i don't really care... sure it crap to loos it, but too bad... i would really hope they just find the fucker and ban his ass to hell... and destroy the monny items along with the account...

err... no, not so wise words.

Giving someone your keys doesn´t mean he´s now entitled to emtpy the house. Borrowing someone your car doesn´t mean he can now go and sell it at the next corner. Opening an email attachment containing a virus doesn´t mean it´s ok to write and distribute viruses.
It´s still an act of crime and that´s what counts. Although it certainly made it a lot easier for the person in question, you can´t reduce it to "entirely your fault".
Of course, sharing account details is A BAD THING (tm), no doubt.

I had the same thing happen to my account recently. GoA banned the hacker and gave me back my plats. They couldn't and wouldn't restore my items tho. GL.

Oh, think you missread or missunderstood my post. I'm not saying the thief is entitled to steal your stuff.... even IF you give him your keys/password. the point of my post was actualy this : "Of course, sharing account details is A BAD THING (tm), no doubt."

It's sad things like this happen, but atleast take precaussions to minimise the risk. One day people are your best friends and hell, they'll even share their wife with ya, the very next day they might stab you in the back.

I don't know the specific details of this incident so I'm not going to comment about this case in particular but I will just say this regarding shared accounts.
If you share your account details with other people, you are giving those people full permission to use your characters, items and gold as if they were their own.
This means that all trades done are legitimate and we won't return items or cash taken from you.
Remember that while you may trust implicitly your best friend who has your account details, you have no control over how securely he keeps those details. This is the main reason why we forbid account sharing, not because we are mean and don't want youto share yoru toys, but because it makes situatiosn like this so much more likely to happen. Every person other than you who knows your account details halves the security of your account.

This is one of those things we had to really tighten up on after people abused it. We used to take these reports on trust, do some digging and and find that person B had logged in person A's account from Person B's IP address, taken all the items and shared them around his own characters. At that point person A woudl get their stuff back and person B would be looking at a long suspension at the very least. However it soon became clear that people were using this to get players banned deliberately, they'd tell them they were leavign the game, give them account details and invite them to help themselves then report it as a hack. After runnign into this very ugly situation multiple times, we finally had to settle on the stricter policy that we have now.
