its a sad thing in general, but it is a kind of in-your-face-thing-america, shows that theyre not invulnerable and whether they are truly are a superpower nation, the pentagon for instance was hit, almost no defence against the oncoming plane,
i'm bewildered at how they wouldhave been flown into the danger areas, i would assume that in the team of hijackers, there must have been trained pilots or even novices, but thats not the point, the point is that if the pilots had suvived, would they have been forced to fly into a building with a gun to their head? hell no, they would have thought theyre dead any way, paniced and got themselves shot:( , but thats irrelevant, the thing is, alot of people are dead and it shows how america is far from invincible

It's hard to believe even he had the capability to do this. No point in guessing. With the number of people who must have been involved some clues must come out. I'd rather wait for evidence.

Its what they said on the news. Rich man apprently.

I saw some footage for the first time just now and it profoundly shocked and sickened me.
My heart goes out to the people struck by this terrible event.

the thing i cant get to grips with is how this could occur in the first place, the tragedy of it all and the fact that the world effing trade center is just one big pile of rubbel, as well as being unfortunate enough to witness on TV a plane smash into them...utterly unbeleivable:(

Taliban diplomat condemns attacks

September 11, 2001 Posted: 2:04 PM EDT (1804 GMT)

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan -- Afghanistan's Taliban ambassador to Pakistan has condemned the string of astonishing terrorist attacks on the United States.

"We want to tell the American children that Afghanistan feels your pain. We hope the courts find justice," ambassador Mullah Abdul Salam Zaeef said in a statement in Pakistan after America was hit by a series of attacks that have been called the worst since Pearl Harbor.

Y'know, the other day I played a demo of Deus Ex and I got to the bit on the first level where the guy talks about the statue of liberty being destroyed and im thinking "Yer right as if anything like thats ever gonna happon".

And then all this happens, and it just makes you think...

What MT said

well, to do something like that requires lots of people with lots of organisation. And they're just arent enough americans who hate capitalism to pull it off

One of the things that really, REALLY ANNOYED me about this attack is that while channels 1,3,4 and 5 showed up to date footage of the attack, channel 2 was quite content to show Woody Woodpecker.

Why would bbc and bbc 2 show the same footage?

There are todlers and little children who have no need to watch this kind of news.

Another building the solomon building, I belive has fallen. It was located to the south of the trade center and was 47 stories high.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Internet news traffic soared on Tuesday following attacks on the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., slowing retrieval times on popular Web news sites and forcing online publishers to cut back on graphics and interactive features.

CNN.com, which is affiliated with the AOL Time Warner-owned 24-hours CNN news channel, said it saw record traffic, hitting 9 million page views an hour since the tragedy occurred, compared to ordinary volume of 11 million page views per day.

Ok its safe to say that the black box onboard either plane that hit the wtc are toast, even a blackbox cant survive two of the worlds tallest buildings falling on them, but surely the pentagon crash wasn't as devastating and the blackbox should be retrievable, maybe that'd tell us something.
I was once involved in a fire at a factory containing gas bottles, nobody was expecting them to go up but when they did we all dived for cover. I know what it feels like to be stood near a gas bottle exploding. but I still can't imagine what its like to be near a collapsing building, or for that matter in it.

Apparently, they can only withstand a short period of intense heat, so the Pentagon black box will depend on where it landed. If it stayed in the blaze, it may be gone as well.

What i said earlier was OTT, i know this now, but when you have family members in the US, friends, and you also belive in the american dream, it tends to mess with your mind. The first thing one thinks when something of this scale happens is to hit back at what caused it.

The way i see it is for the western world to impose even more sanctions, and for select intelligence operations to systematically wipe out every single terrorist organisation known, sending out clear signals that today - today was the day at which Complaisance with terrorism ended...

I imagine that shot period is messured in days, as you don't usually find black boxes straight away. I'm pretty sure it survived, then at least they should know the region the terroists came from.

Having seen another clip of people above the fire after the impact made me feel sick again, since little did they know that a few minutes later the building would collapse :(

A mate of mine came round and I said to him I'll wakeup tomorrow and wonder if it could be real, the idea of the twin towers being destroyed is very hard to accept...he agreed.

I'd imagine it's better than the alternative: knowing the building was gunna colapse and there was nothing they could do about it..

From BBC News website
In the last hour multiple explosions and anti-aircraft fire have been heard in the Afghan capital Kabul.

This follows indications that US officials believe the Saudi dissident and Islamic militant Osama bin Laden - who is based in Afghanistan - may have been responsible for the attacks on the US.

However, US officials have disclaimed any responsibility for the explosions in Kabul.
