Ok people I think that if it is any type of drink its woth making a thread about, its whisky. I couldnt find any thread about whisky so i start one.

Whisky is the best form of alcohol i know about, and i am not even old enogh to buy it because of that stupid law in norway who wont sell alcohol with above 22 % alc/vol to people under 20 years old. ( I am 18 and concidered "an adult" what the f*ck is wrong with norway! )

But i still manage to get a few botles here and then and since i am a whisky noob i am asking for some advice.
I am asking about YOUR favorite whisky.

My favorite at the moment is clearly Glenfiddich 15 years old single malt whisky.
havent tasted the 18 year Glenfiddich yet but wonder if its better.
Since most people here is older and can buy spirit legaly, I am asking you, witch whisky is the best one?

Actually, our country, Norway, is quite nice. Most countries has a minimum of 21 years of age before being allowed to consume alcohol.

Oh, and yeah, whiskey is goooood!

Whitch countries, i can only think of USA. I have been in 4 european countries when I have had an innterest in alcohol. Germany, Denmark, Poland and Greece (Rhodos) and all of them I could buy all from beer with 5 % alc to Absinthe with 80 %

how to the pub licences work there then? just over 18s allowed on licensed premises e.g. pubs/bars/clubs? but 16 yr olds can go down to the supermarket and buy it?

in UK its flat out you have to be 18 to buy alcohol

Used to be no law for age in Denmark but now it's 15 or 16 but doesn't matter when U r an old guy :)

well as for the whiskey try some of the classical malt's Oban, cragganmore, Glenmorangie ect.

I'm pretty sure U will find one that is gonna match your taste.
Bear in mind what cask they have aged on cause tht influence the taste much.

Ofc I take it U r talking bout single malt's and not that blended crap or that american cornpipe stuff. :drink:

Most pubs etc require you to be 15, but that's really up to the cafe-owner. Some don't have a minimum age, some have a minimum age of 21... all depends on what crowd that place wants to pull.
And officially barkeeps have to ask for ID when serving... they never do though. They do in liquor stores. High percentage alcohol can't be sold in the supermarket, and they've gotta make sure the buyer is 16+, but also there they don't always ask for ID.

Where in Gods name is that? The cheapest i have seen is 10 € a litre in greece (still VERY cheap compered to norwegian prices; like 46 €)

Thx for the recomendations this far :)

Brought it back from my holiday in Magaluf. The mixers out there cost more than the alcohol :p

If you like your single malts, then try Islay whiskies such as Ardbeg, Laphraoig, Port Ellen, Lagavulin etc are the way you want to go. I'd also recommend Talisker, Oban, Glenlivet as well.

If you're really into your whisky, then take a holiday to Scotland. Its where most of the good single malts are distilled, and also a great place to try them all. (especially as if you're over 18 you can drink whisky!). SAS now do flights from Bergen to Edinburgh for about £60 each way. Might be nice for a weekend break if you can afford it :)

I have been drinking Clontarf Irish Whiskey recently, it is very nice stuff. I generally prefer Irish whiskey, it tends to be a bit smoother and sweeter than whiskey from elsewhere but of course it varies from brand to brand.

Someone get Margaret in here, she's something of a whisky connoisseur...

I can appreciate good whisky, 14-year Laphroaig is awesome, but generally it doesn't really do it for me as something I'd recreationally drink (being a lager man myself).

Do you guys mix whisky with Coce? I have never tried that, it dosnt sound to good (i stick to Rum and coce when it comes to Coca Cola and alcohol ) . I sometimes mix it with a little bit of water, to boost the "whisky taste"

Bla

Werent Port ellen and Lagavullin Islay whiskey's?

Anyways atm on the shelf here:
Glenfiddich 12yo
Glenfiddich 15 yo (solera reserve)
Glenfiddich 12yo Caoran reserve (peat-smoked 4tehwin!)
Glenlivet 12yo
Glenlivet 18yo
Glen talloch 18yo

Like all of em so far :D but since im student i cant afford to many expensive bottles.

Anyways imo Glenfiddich is easly affordable and good stuff, where as JD. Johnny walker and stuff like that simply wont go down my throat (dont like to taste cheap grainalcohol through my whiskey)
