Would not even compare daoc with WaR or adress it as daoc 2..

That is just utterly bullshit, not same theme, build on totally diffrent timezones/scales.they have 1 thing in comon "both from mythic" so beside that and the experience mythic have/had from daoc you probably see some in WaR from it. and that is how close they get to another.

And WoW i dident defend WoW, but blizzard from what i read are implanting open world rvr, and if you look at the past Blizzard VS Mythic only thing mythic has managed is the rvr aspect.blizzard has ALOT of older heavy titles, starcraft, diablo, wow and so on.

WoW i dont think is to mutch about pvp at all AV is more or less run as fast as you can from point A to B and sack one guy and you win..But who know's they might got something going.

I agree on the gfx part, i dont buy/play a game "mainly" from gfx i played UO in 2d and that damn rocked hardcore, but i do think it is 2008 and a game should not look like some blurry muppetshow

please tell me how much experience you have with daoc

Longer fights = more Morale build up = more firing off of Fists Of Gork.

Long time

What was your /play, how many 50's, what RR's?
Atm tbh you're talking like you played daoc for a day or two, wow for a year or two and war for a minute or two.

Play the game to level cap and then try rvr, I've done it, it is good, if not better than daoc and certainly a lot better than wow.
I dont know if you have a crap PC, but war is not either a blurry muppet fest...

Well it starts to become a blurry muppet feast with so many Destro rushing like waves heh. I cant complain, not even in RvR my vision seems to change. The GFX is cool and i really enjoy it :)

But yes, i would be interested in times aswell, /played would be interesting Xanathea?

Oh and welcome krilly then, you hopefully find WAR your game :) (if you ever care to come back to read this heh)

I done alot of 50's and rr' and i killed you alot of times aswell, dont see the point of it explaining it to you.

If you like WaR fine, but i think it is trash....just like i said level 10 or whatever atleast i FEEL when i play a game if it is COOL or not.

Just like i would do with daoc, i would not level to 50 get temp go rvr and OMFG game stinks...i would feel that alot ealier.

and longtime is from US beta to a while back guilds i passed are vgn,td,TB i played menta, ench, ranger, hunter,sb,infil, wizzie, cleric,ns,sorc, druid, healer,rm.

Only problem I have come across is in the scenarios.

The inbalance of levels allowed in the first one at least is a bit silly. They seem to range from lvl 1 to lvl 11+

lvl 11+ just dont seem to die, especially the tanks, its a bit silly to be honest but I guess they will look into that but last night was a real problem, I was rank 6 and everyone else on my team was about the same lvl, then all chaos players seemed to be between lvl 8 and 10 with this lvl 11 tank guy just being unstoppable.

Bit dodgy imo :s

I never played Wow, and therefore as an uninformed outsider the dominant impression I get is that of a fantastic (as in graphically and gameplay wise) PvE carebear cuddlefest with a bit of PvP thrown in to sate those with a few primeval urges. Never appealed to me but maybe something was lost in my translation of what the game was about.

The only comparison I can make is between DaoC (which I know a little bit about) and WH - or more relevantly (looking into a crystal ball ;)), the potential of WH. Now there maybe those who heark back to DaoC with rose-tinted spectacles about how fantastic the RvR was, and I will concede that at times it was great fun. However, much time was spent by many(on Excalibur anyway) zerging en masse in one zone (Emain - probably because the mobs were less hassle and the terrain less complicated?)

I look at the geography of WH, where there is PVP potential in virtually every zone to at least keep guys interested instead of grinding levels (you only ever felt you belonged RvR-wise in DaoC after you maxed your char), where at R40 there are 12 RvR scenarios (a great anti-zerg move) as well as 12 normal RvR zones, the usual (DaoC type) keep-taking/holding mularky - and, of course the city sieges at the end of it all....

...and I am left with the impression that from an RvR perspective WH has the potential to put DaoC to bed. Now the WoW guys might not be satisfied (not enough PvE content/too much PvP focus/graphically inferior?) and some ex-DaoC guys might not be either (not sure why ???) but for the rest...I think its going to be one hell of a ride.

And then there's the 4 additional cities and a DF-style dungeon to look forward to :).

You killed us lot ? wow, thats pvp-een extension if I ever saw it ! Please give a name or two, easy to verify :) pryd/excal ppl pretty much knew everyone who RvR'd....we wait your answer

and yes please explain it to us, as i for one think your talking a load of BS. You got to 50, went rvr, got pwned by a few set groups, spit dummy out of pram and now your whining on here.

I see the potential in WAR to have a roaming group experience like we had in Daoc - and I dont think you have a clue what im talking about.

Bolstering just stops you being cannon fodder it doesnt mean you are really equal to the higher level players mostly because youll lack a lot of abilities they picked up through levelling.

You can still take em down if you coordinate attacks?

Also although people get artificially bumped up to level 8 you don't get bumped down to level 8 when you go past it so lvl 11s end up with much better gear, much higher stats, better/more abilities and much more hp. You can pretty much tell who his going to win a scenario by filtering the scoreboard for rank when the game starts.

there was at least 4/5 people nuking the crap out of him at times but it did very little I duno if he was getting healed, or he had some skills that regen his health +absorb damage but basically he was godmode :p
Lowest I sqw his health was like 40%

Kind ahard to co-ordinate anything with the amount of newbies running round, I mean they take the fortress and off they all job to chaos spawn point -_-

he was most likley getting heald, and a 101 in rvr, a dead healer can't heal, go for the squichies first, not the big tank running in the front yelling loud

Yah the lvl 11's in tier 1 are mentaly hard. Three of us all lvl 8 BO's tried to take on a dwarfy lvl 11 in the gates of dwarfdom T1 place. To sart off he had a healer and we just got deaded. So next time we nuked the healer as fast as we could, which was hard as he was lvl 11 too, but we managed it and only lost 2 of us :) Then all three of us tried the stunty again and he killed all 3 of us with no healer, granted he was under 1/4 health by the end but the balancing though sounding good, really has little effect but to stop you being one shotted it seems, as the gear and abilities make you pretty darn harder than lower peeps. Was fun if frustrating, for three BO's to beat on a stunty and all die lol.

You dont see one football team using hands/motorbikes/machineguns/landmines against another team do you now? Would'nt be fair now, would it?

Fair, no. God dammit though, there's a game I would want to watch!

Luckily the level 11s will eventually get too much xp so its not a long term problem - just a challenge :)

Thank you for your input Zede. I'll have a go at a level 11+ char today.

So far I wasn't impressed much but I trust your statements.

Yeah it's a lot of fun as a level 11, especially for a tank, just don't let it go to your head that you're always that invincible :) it's just the level difference.
Actually maybe the rank bolstering should take you to level 10, then it won't be as bad.

Dunno bout everyone else but I've been really enjoying the open RvR over the past couple of days in Trollcountry/Ostland (Tier 2).

boths sides have had a good go at the others keeps, theres been a good amount of objective capturing/defending and some nice roving rvr.

Personally I'm really enjoying it, more so than Tier 1 because theres just plenty more to get involved in.

I'm enjoying the RVR...but I have a question. After continually forgetting where I am and spending half my time these days as a chicken! What happens when the population of the server has very few or none at all sub lvl11s. Does T1 become out of bounds and no-one can capture it? Or do hey always expect there to be enough lower levels?
