I dread working with young uniformed police officers. I don’t have to very often, but when I do for the most part they are rude, full of attitude, incredibly arrogant and often don’t know the law very well at all. They aren’t all like that, but a significant percentage are on a bit of a power trip.

There was one near us and his gf left him and started dating my mate whos the nicest guy you could wish to meet. Anyway this copper used to grief him non stop, made his life hell. Eventually, this copper said to my mate, I want you a fight and my mate was like, dude, I dont fight and secondly you would just arrest me. Anyway, we were walking home from a night out and this copper pulls up with his mate in the police car, jumps out, takes his helmet and jacket off shouting "you and me now and the other police man with me wont arrest you" and he lamps my mate one. My mate ends up giving him a hiding and gets arrested for it. Luckily, there were plenty of witnesses and this copper ended up losing his job over it lol

lol what a tard. makes you wonder if the police do any kind of psych evaluation :(

edit: @ford, I know I am generalizing horribly here, but in my mind I am talking about the same bad apples you are, not the vast amount of awesome people who know what they're about in the forces.

Actually that isn't quite true, they have a basic intelligence test and are given problem solving excercises. Candidates below average intleligence are usually dismissed, although if it is only a few points, they will be let through - equality.

Its 9k a year which will be paid back in tiny amounts when people are earning huge wages and at an extremely competitive interest rate. People on useless time killing courses will probably not ever earn enough to have to start paying it back anyway...

Idiot middle class kids who don't know how lucky they are to be able to go to uni in the first place.

Don't agree with the scale of the rises but your sentiments are spot on. Too many people fucking around at Uni, not working towards degrees of benefit of the economy and all at the expense of the taxpayer if they don't get jobs paying a reasonable amount. We need to cull the useless degrees or at least limit the numbers so heavily that it deters fuckwits, then divert some of the money saved onto sponsored degrees for subjects that will actually enhance the nations earning potential.

Disability Living Allowance reform - DWP

It is a lot to wade through, some of the highlights include:

Lower rate care allowance to be removed completely, which is the catch all tier for people with severe mental illness.

Disabled people to be financially penalised for using adaptions, including wheelchairs

All disabled people to regularly be reassessed to see if they still qualify for the benefit by individuals which include occupational therapists and social workers, even if the disabled person has a life long condition.

Mobility component to be suspended if person spends more than 28 days in hospital (motability cars are paid for by this benefit - potential for disabled person to loose transport).

There are a dozen other more subtle points, but I don't really have time to explain them at the moment - you need to understand the subtlties of DLA law.

Personally, I agree with some of your comments - I think that in order to get the fees down we should have a French approach it and have riots, it's the only way to be listened look at strikes - let's have a stri- I mean a day off work... - it's total bullshit it needs to be sorted out I'm not posh for wanting to go to University, but I can't get any money off it and I want to go and the fees will kill me, it's all jolly and good people who have already been to university and got their degrees not caring and saying that University should only be for a chosen few, and not for all - when that person wouldn't even be in the 'chosen few'

Saying that...

I deteste the fact that SOME - yes, SOME of the protesters have resorted to vandalism/disrespect as the second reply picture shows, the person hanging off a flag on the servicepeople's memorial thing.. - That's just disgusting and and makes me sick, it's loosing not just the people that were in the middle, but also people that were originally supporting the students - There's too many students there for the fun of it.. I just wonder how many of those students ARE going to be effected by the tuiton fee rises...

OR alternatively, - the Tories have hired a few students to do that :p

Rock star's son faces quiz over Cenotaph protest - Crime, UK - The Independent
His dad wasn't impressed I bet.

On a slightly different note, can anyone explain how university education is free in Scotland; and their prescription costs are a lot less than England? I was under the impression that their budgets would not be too dissimilar to England's but apparently not?

Same(ish) in Wales. Students born in Wales won't pay anything more than £3000 per year at Welsh Uni's. Wales also has free prescriptions.

I always find it odd that people are surprised when these things turn violent. If you want something from the state you

A. Vote - they were clearly lied to by the people they voted for.

B. Peacefully Protest - Stop the War, Countryside Alliance etc etc when was the last time the state took any notice of a peaceful protest?

C... ? whats left?

The other thing I don't get is when they interview police about this sort of thing. The police are simply an instrument of the state - not a spokesperson for the government, their opinion should be irrelevant.

I don't agree with the extreme protests (which include violence etc) but I do personally feel something a bit more than a social gathering and walk through the town was needed to make a point. The fact is that Judas Clegg has caused massive outrage and unrest through his lies (not only has he pissed off half the country, he's ensured that the lib dems won't have a shot at power for a long time to come).

I cringed when I saw some of the videos of these protests. Either do it peacefully or expect the police to fuck you over. It's really that simple. They seem to be under the impression that because they're students (a lot of them are college students) they can get away with this sort of thing.

Did you see the video of them going at prince Charles/Camilla? What was the fucking point of that? Shouting off with their heads etc. What does that have to do with the rise in tuition fees? Crowd mentality is taking over far too easily. They don't seem to understand that the whole point of the protests is to sway public opinion drastically, not come across (particularly to working class people, a lot of which will be losing jobs in this recession) as spoilt middle classed brats away from their parents for a day.

I think a lot of people have realised that it makes no difference what so ever if the demo is peaceful in fact you will get totally ignored. Largest demonstrations ever held in this country resulted in puck all change on the issue being demonstarted against.

The only down side to this, that i can see is that it takes away from the fact that tuition fees are tripling.

As for Prince Charles being attacked all i can say is LOL if that is considered as an attack.
