I like BW as well and on T1 played all my games on BW. As i am an Admin for NGUK, i now play most of my games on NGUK. Doesn't mean i don't like BW. The answer to your question appears to be in the quote......in that i posted here because it was in reponse to a direct question on NGUK and posting a reply anywhere else would have been pointless, unless you are suggesting that any inaccurate information (or what i percive to be inaccurate ) posted on BW forums about NGUK should be ignored?

Considering the complete lack of a satisfactory answer to why NGUK feel the need to add a space I've gone and posted a question on their forums here: http://forums.nguk.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5797

For those who think it isn't an issue I'd say why bother doing it in the first place.

For those who think its a free service yada yada let me tell you that no company invests money in an online game service purely to lose money. Its always done with the intention that some marketing to that audience will be done at some stage or other, or future revenue will be generated once the audience is of a certain size.

Lets hope they can answer without resorting to rolling out their PR machine again.

To be honest, I can't see what the problem is. NGUK are not the first GSP/server admins to have used spaces in their names to place servers at the top of the list. For the record, I am not anti-BW/NGUK, both are ace GSPs and I have used them both for as long as I can remember.

I don't believe it is an issue at all with regard to the server promotion, it's NGUK's perogative, they are providing us gamers with quality free servers to play on. I for one have no problem with the minimal advertising/PR from both GSPs. There is nothing stopping any other GSP from doing the same thing.

I can't see for the life of me what you are hoping to achieve by seeking an answer to what appears to be a pointless question. You (and others) might consider it "lame", but so what ? Many people don't give a flying monkeys, including me.

It will be interesting to see how NGUK replies to your post. Should be good for a laugh.

Also, I tend to sort my servers out by player numbers, not server names, I then weed through the l33thax0rdeathkilla servers and try and find a good euro server

1) Thier servers did used to crash a bit, but that was Dynamix's fault not NGUK. Anyway, since the last patch I have not seen them go down once and I play on them a lot.

Thankfully not everyone thinks like you then, otherwise the newbies would have no where to play and T2 would already be dead
While it can be frustrating or downright piss you off big time, we all have to learn and newbies are the future of T2. Otherwise it will rapidly become what T1 was at the end..a game played by an elite few. Newbies drop all the time because they don't all love the game straight away like many T1 players and find the constant problems too much hassle. By discouraging them from the servers as well we will ultimatly ruin our own fun!!

Okay so there were comments made about both the NGUK server set up and BW setup and a perfect response was supplied by both DaveAswad and Shinara on NGUKs behalf.

I personally play on them both, and interestingly have seen players from both sides of this arguement doing the same...

Now we have a flame going on with people making general comments about people that a) they dont know and b)probably have very little interest in whats being said here.

I will bet niether of the persons responsible for these comments could supply a reasonable answer or provide any evidence as to why these generalisations were made this in the first place.

What is more interesting is the people who are posting. Take a quick look at the names who have posted here and on the BW forums, and I think you will find it is mostly the same people. Not a very wide range of either the "BW players" or the "NGUK" players. It seems to me that have a very small number of people making comments on behalf of people that have no interest in a pathetic flame.

As for the game that is being spoken of, if it were not for the situation surrounding its suggestion it would probably be a great idea, and enjoyed by many.

Also, and again as has been said before, this is not about either Barryswold or NGUK. It is basically pathetic bitching, which there is no need for and makes for a thread which is embarrassing to read.

If there is going to be a game forget all this nonsense and do what the servers are here for and play the game.

I play quite a lot on the NGUK servers, but only because they're the ones that usually have a good number of players already playing when I want to have a game. Given the choice I'd go for a BW server any day, simply because for some reason my framerate is twice as high when I play on a BW server over a NGUK server.

As for the space in the server name thing, since it seems that NGUK aren't gonna do anything about it, BW should also change their server names to incude a space at the beginning.

There are a few other possible solutions: Someone could release a patch for the in-game T2 server browser that will organise server names by the first letter in their names, rather than the first character; Dynamix could change the T2 dedicated server program so that it will only accept server names that start with a letter; or Dynamix could alter their master servers to only list servers that don't use a symbol before a letter in their names, thereby forcing server admins to use sensible server names.

Personally I feel that the space in the name thing is just another form of cheating, and it will probably lead to server list that looks like the one I get in my Half-Life server browser (lots of servers starting with symbols like '[({#~@*) which will lead to a lot of confusing names that will only make it more difficult to find the server you're looking for.
