The REAL Problem with Aimbots

With the known existence of such aim enhancing cheats, gamers become paranoid. In T2, i have never seen actions/movement that would make me question if a cheat was being used. But this doesnt stop people making mindless accusations at anyone who exhibits consistant hits with weapons like the railgun/sniper rifle.

It is very demeaning to have your name dragged in the dirt with repeated accusations of cheating. People are too quick to accuse others. All you need to do is shoulder cam the suspected player for a bit before trying a votekick.

The paranoia of aimbots is far worse than the Aimbit itself for the community.

Please stop the mindless accusations. Keep the game fun. Rant over

I have never noticed aimbots in T2, i'm not even sure if they exist, but I have seen a few very sneeky shots recently, like people getting shot mid air by a spinfusor, this is very difficult to pull off but maybe playing CS aswell has made me a bit paranoid.....

Please don't let this game go the same way of CS and have accusations of cheating going 'round every two minutes.

My own personal thoughts for why T2 has not really got 'cheats' is there are already enough lame things going on in T2 to keep the cheater amused......with satchels, snipers, ppl using vehicles as battering rams, mines, tk's, destroying your own base etc.....you get the picture

I used to wonder about cheats, but now I've got to know the euro clans a bit I realise that if some guy with a TsK tag keeps wasting me it prolly aint a bot.

However, I'm begining to find more and more none tagged players who can seem to snipe me mid air 7 or 8 times in a game, surely I'm not being paranoid?!?

Either way, it aint as bad as CS or DoD thankfully, I just wish more could be done to stop these ppl though

Only weapon you should worry about being scripted is the las rifle.

Everything else has travel time to the target.

Any half decent play is changing direction all the time and thus would be nowhere near where the "aimbots" shot was intended to land.

Unless someone makes a form of heat seeking disc I dont think theres anything to worry about.

Mid Air disc shots arent that difficult. Go to the duel servers and you will see some nasty shit.

The other possible cheat I've been wondering about is one that allows missle locks while grounded. I used to think it was just because my jet pack heat was still high from a previous jump, but it seems to be happening way to often on occasion. The same also goes for ppl jumping who I can't always get a lock on, cheat there as well?!?

Or is it just that I'm real shit?

i remember when Writer released his aimbot for tribes 1.

ego heard the new almost as soon as it was released, and we told poker about it and poker told us to test it (he knew the truth) and ego hesitant to install it, so i did.

anyway, we tested it on snowblind, and i flew into the air, turned it on, and it imediately disked ego right in the face.

omg omg omg omg it worked.

thats the only mid air disk it ever did tho :/

but it was just the fact it actually was an aimbot for the very first shot :]

I've only found one aimbot for T2 so far, and as a league admin I test em if I find em, then if they work, I send an email to Dynamix (well, used to ) - just to state i have NEVER used any cheats online, nor would I want to.
The aimbot I found was a VB proggy and yes, it works - BUT - and it's a big but - for 99% of players, manually aiming & firing is more successful. Only really shite players would benefit from this cheat, as shite as I am, it would hinder my playing, not help.
I have no doubt other cheats exist, but so far I haven't seen anything on server that would make me think "I wonder if he's using a cheat"

Someone once accused me - ME! - of using an aimbot after I'd had an especially long run of mid-air disc shots. I was well pleased at that, since I've never cheated in an online game in my life.

If someone wrongfully accuses you of being a cheater, just do what I did and take it as a compliment.

Oh well, the most annoying thing in T2 is the auto missile trigger script, it can really destroy a cappers sence of logic. It begins to be annoying when you used 6 flares, yet two missiles are allready on their way... Seriously I know they doesn´t change the speed of reload, but it can be nasty, so you say "Just fly on the ground" Oh right, can´t do that on every map, especially with a good D. So one heavy with that script can really ruin your day. And mostly cos many people see it as a script, not a cheat! Am I the only one
or is this just another form of aimbot. The other thing is when they get a lock from about 200 metres, in the most foggy map... Makes you think a
bit.

i personally view that rocket script as a cheat yes
