I lost all my edits when I was fucking around with my Lightroom catalog while upgrading to LR4. Moved all my pictures to the network as I was running out of space on my laptop. Oh well, it's a good thing I quite enjoy processing... This is one I don't think I've used yet. There are two up on Flickr of the same shot, two different edits. I think I prefer the top one better.
Was out and about yesterday trying to get a stormy shot, didn't get anything great. Stopped off on the way back and got this storm cloud rolling in with shafts of light coming through onto the fields below.
Nothing wrong with the colour version per sé, just a general lack of colour and the subject matter suited greyscale.
What about this one, trying something a little different (still a long exposure) with the focal length. I love the folds of rock, this is where Scotland crumpled up against England .
The conditions weren't quite right for it, there wasn't enough detail / movement in the sea for a "few seconds" exposure so I had to make do with what I had.
I will need to go back when the conditions and sun angle are better. The position of the sun has made the water too bright so it's taken a lot of the detail out of it that *may* have allowed for a better exposure time. Also, the swell from the sea was a bit poor here as this bay was shielded from the swell direction.
I like the second coasty one more than the first, it's a more complete image with the coast tapering away in the background.
How far are you from a coast? How far are you willing to travel "just" for photography (to everyone)? I really should make more of an effort. Coasty stuff is great.
