These forums don't half skew off on tangents (bit like this reply is because Chalky's got verbal Dihorrea and keeps distracting me rather than making the coffee cos he can't play online as he's downloading something huge!hint hint dear I know your reading this over my shoulder), started with humourous joys of being an adult and end up with a particularly vicious bun fight!! and I come on the forums for light relief and a giggle and end up with what I try and escape from online.

I hope all of you, whatever course or career path your taking, do well. At the end of the day life's too short to fuss about the trivial things as long as what you do makes you happy and is not detremental to others.

Right, that's it, waffled on for long enough, probably get slated for being a wafty wimp. but hey, I don't care. LOL.

Sorry to break it to you, but I generally consider Bodhi a twat, as I'm sure he considers me bearing in mind how often we've argued about stuff. However, I don't bother holding grudges, hence me clearing out my ignore list once a month.

Amazingly enough I'll welcome forum members if they aren't totally shit, I offered some advice and was slated for it, then responded in kind, funnily enough this less than endears me to someone.

The best way to get a job as a NA is have a sister who works as a DBA in a college and when enrolment comes around and everyone is busy I get called in coz I'm cheap

As for the whole N3wbie thing, you should try to be a little calmer! Scooba was giving you advice and if you resented how he put it you could have phrased it a bit less inflamatory; I understand your point but my course is not a total IT course, its actually called ICT and is an amalgm of both. As for Nvq, AVCE's, the reasoning behind them (and the reason why I am taking one) is to try to remove the risk to companies when employing ex-students. Having a vocational-based qualification shows the "future employer" that you know how to do things and will have no problem adapting to the work you would be expected to do. Also, as a counter-point to the idea that an academical course is better for future employment, I have a friend who got a 1st @ loughbourgh a year ago and has not touched a pc since. He works in a bank!

/edit oh and I was under the impression that vocational courses were aimed at people who wanted to circumvent uni and go straight to work. It was a government initiative to stop the flood of people going to uni and leeching of the state. Instead they just made the poor student poorer

According to the mass of people i spoke to, including employers, teachers and other random important people, it gives you the option to go straight into working but if you still want to, you can goto Uni because it gives you enough points to get in. oh i also forgot to add, the company who said they will employ me when i do college (i did work XP with them, NHS to be exact) have a policy of sending you through Uni, paying for the course for you, paying you wages still why you are there for the 1 day a or what ever it is, so you can advance and leanr more things, and make you even better for them. for example, my mum works for them as a statastition (SP?), after so long they paid her to go to uni again (as i described) and she got a degree in analysing info or what ever it is, now she has finished that they are sending her to do an honours degree in it, which means she gets paid even more before she can do harder work (because she knows mow than the rest!).

One of the first things I was ever taught was "If you can't bat don't bowl". If you honestly think that I'd dish out the level of abuse which fucktards such as yourself warrant without being able to take it back you really are more retarded than I ever gave you credit for. Of course getting offended at something on the internet would requie me to take it more seriously than I currently do (as much as you want it to be, the internet is not "real life"). seeing as it's been some time since i've posted, i may as well have a mini-rant here....

newbie you've chosen IT as what you want to do.... from now on, all your life you're going to get a load of shit off a load of people about the "best thing to do".

some people think it's better to do A levels, then a degree or whatever... some people think it's better to get a simple job at the bottom and work your way up... just because it works for some people doesn't mean it works for others....

Scooba's gone off on one saying how shit your course is... that's an attitude you can expect to see a lot of... doubtless he'd mock my HND Computing & Information Systems which i've just spent the last two years doing... but the point is - i have NO doubt that you will succeed in getting employment doing whatever you want if you're up to the task.... what actual qualifications you have might not mean much - but the experience you can demonstrate because you've learnt how to do a given task WILL.

Scooba is admittedly an intelligent seeming man, and has an opinion on this... it may be slightly flawed but hey... at least he's not spouting total shit like Bodhi.
