Going to bed now, and no Teador I don't take for granted they do, however, I think with ALL the whine there has been about this on BW and in game, every tank experiencing this, there is good reason to think they use this sort of exploit.

"Exploit", it's just a flaw in the game engine like the lag-strafing, and it can happen when you use /face (like pbuck said)

I posted a way to do this because it was discovered by some mates in my realm that showed me how it works. And we all have stuck to you several times and see you lag away again and again, they found a way to do this, and figured it was the way you did it, simple as that.

(read what I've said, I never state I have any proof, but I heard a lot of whine about this and when the bug was found it was an easy answear (not saying it isn't the thruth btw, neither saying it is))

So what you are saying is that some of your realm mates use a lag trick. THEY are the ones who should be reported. Until you have evidence that Pbuck and Walker are doing what your friends do you should -not- be making accusations of this nature.

Neither the lag strafe or the lag cast (if it is done with /face as described) is any different from abusing LoS as a necro/enchanter for example. So following the usual Albs lead I'll just say let's stop whining over that and wait until Mythic fixes it...

The DAOC client/server system cannot be as accurate as an FPS game. You have possibly 100x the clients active on the server. You run along, you stop, you try to cast, "You are moving and cancel the spell". You see ghosts of players running through the milegates all the way to the APK. You see stealthers (infs) standing stealthed miles away from you for 10 seconds till the game updates and they disappear. You get stunned by a shied even though you're miles away on your screen. You see players run through keeps doors towards you and are castable on from the inside. You stick and you get "too far away". You face and you get out of view. You prepare a peforate artery! You hit for 25 (-3) damage!

P.S. accusing people of cheating without hard evidence sucks pretty badly (IMO its worse than blabbing on IRC (see other threads!!)), half the Counterstrike experience was ruined because of cheating, the other half was ruined because good players were accused of cheating.

Sometimes I think, goddamn are they using Radar? They could be, but the amount of times I shot through walls into well known camping spots on CS and got accused of wallhacking etc, I try to steer away from thinking that. Sure I could go have a cow about it, or just think they used better tactics (stealther relay), or just
luck...

1.) Walkers nick to most inguild is warper.
2.) Walker is group lead normaly so will look like hes lag casting when hes really standing still on his screen casting.

Now start another thread adressed "albs and warping bug" or something. Btw was odd how u dont use daoc yet u took the time to logout adn logback in betwen ports after we owned u just to post this, and then to come back and be owned again with ur warping celt.

my 2 coppers-ive rvred on excal for a good time and never saw so often ppl warping in the sizes i can see it on prydwen
and about proof -u cant actually proof lag tricks at all,u can always say uve got a lag at that second so asking a proof sounds quite strange

I didn't ask for any proof, because I know Edlina and any player would be hard pressed to produce any. The closest a player could do is place players (best to be stealthers I guess) in extremely remote places on maps (making sure not observed by stealthers or anyone), and watch them make a beeline towards it (probably using a radar as well), and then you don't really have any proof still. Just some screenshots of you dead in random places.

GOA/Mythic might be able to produce some evidence, like above, or short of that someone with access to that players computer could show that they have the radar on their computer or take piccies of them using it... Not very likely isit.

Let's summarise what we know in between the insults:

Many players have observed this lag warping phenomenon. It raises suspicions and understandably raises tension. Next Edlina discovers there's a way to do this using DaoX and some conclusions are jumped to that this is the sole cause of what many of us have seen in game. Accusations are thrown about. Then it is explained how you can make this happen in game using autorun and /face. Then some more questions are asked and from what Pbuck and others have said, it would appear that the problem that many of us have run into with warping and unhittable mages might well be to do with this autorun, face and cast thing.

Is it cheating? Guess we could discuss that forever and never agree. My opinion is that it is a form of cheating that ranks alongside strafing when mezzed, because you are knowingly taking an action which breaks the intended game mechanics and makes you unhittable when you shouldn't be. It might not be bug abuse, it might not be against the CoC, but it's still cheating because you're using a trick to not be hit when you should be.

I worry about where this leads now that all this information is in the public domain. Edlina posted the info on the basis it appeared to be linked to DaoX. If that was the only way to do this, no problem because DaoX is against the CoC. The problem comes in that it appears there's an in-game way to make this happen using basic everyday commands. And now heaps of people know about it who didn't before. Every Tom and Dick caster in every realm is going to be pulling this stunt before we know where we are.

The Autorun /face isn't a laghack, its just a bug in the way the game handles the commands. Its not like a certain combination or timing of the commands to make the effect and purposely gain the advantage.

Sorry, not losing to a superior opponent.

Losing to an ineffective network connection, completely different matter.

Only way to find out who is superior is to place them on similar machines, on the same switch as the server, not other way.

Is it fair that people who have laggy clients can do this? No. Is there anything that can be done about it? No. Is it the same sort of thing as what happenned at the beginning of retail with the speed hacks? Yip, exact same thing. Client side factors cause a player to have an advantage over others. Now that isn't really fair.

Also, now that this (DAoX lag thingy) is out in the open, as people have said, there will be lame idiots who will be using this to give themselves an advantage, that'll be fun

Oh well, another reason to not go to RvR. Wonder how TS is atm...?

Theres probably more disadvantages being lagged to fuck than the odd out of view of opponent advantages though. Having a better machine that can handle RvR and keep FPS at a good level is probably more useful. Life isn't fair though <hugs sexy VidX>

1) Who said anything about commiting suicide? or are you telling someone to go and kill themself? any way it's a pretty fucking stupid comment to make.

2) I'm guessing you're new to this server with your rr4 char as you list excal things in your sig. Believe me that Vidx (or Usp as most people on this server know him) has had his fair share of winning, and for the vast majority of my time in daoc I was in his winning teams. And we won a lot more times than we lost.

Im no experienced RvR'er at any stretch of the imagination. Ive met both Pbuck and Walker though, and of all the times I can remember neither seemed to use any 'underhand' tactics or exploits, but just very sound positioning, tactics and knowledge of when and where to attack.

Ive even killed Pbuck (once), but not Walker as yet (but thats becuase I dont run in a pre-made group, utilising all skills and am in no way the best of my class).

I still have respect for these two people, as do most Midgardians who refer to groups known to be wandering as Pbucks or Walkers, giving a special warning for those who attempt to engage them.

Thats not to say those who have experienced these 'problems' are lying, as perhaps it is just a matter of lag or client problems with different spec computers or server-routing problems. There are so many variables in this connection stream from them to server to you to server to back to them...who can say.

What I do find amusing, are the calls for 'cheating' and 'exploiting'. It amazes me, how much like the whining VN boards we have become, that any death or inability to kill another person results in whines. Myself, I relish meeting these people and their groups, as I know I will be tested..found wanting, quite surely. But over time I will (hopefully) gain skill also, and eventually win a few battles, and get them to remember my name.

This is what the community is about, those who excel at the game being prime targets and adversaries, building a connection between us all to fight with and against, to hate and fear. Guess there's just too much hate.

To recap : not everyone who runs a successful group who kills YOU is cheating. They are perhaps just..better than you. Accept it, learn from it, come back from it and give them a decent challenge. The few times Ive seen Walker or Pbuck, they have most certainly not been lag-casting or acting in any way strange or using exploits.

For all those who do cheat : rot in hell, you lame swines.

A lot of people did this on the pvp server :/ with my chanter, i would stun them, then they would strafe sideways and then lag back, it made it literally impossible for me to stun+pbaoe them since they were lagging all over the place.
