Hmm i see people's lag ghost all other place Hibs, Albs and Mids, May be some r cheating i dont know but all this posting is pointless coz it cant be proved anyway so wots the point.

There are 2 different issues here.

I think everyone has known for a long time that strafing when stunned/mezzed makes you move on other people's screens and you can't be attacked as easily. This is a bug.

Everyone also knows that sometimes people can lag a lot (trough MG walls etc). Everyone has seen it.

I think Teador and Meatballs pretty much have it. The whole problem here is prediction. Prediction makes people on your screen move when they actually have stopped moving on their own computers. However prediction is a very neccessary element in any online game. Different games use different kind of methods to predict client movement on other clients and on server. IMO, DAoC prediction is pretty good, even though it causes some problems like this whole lag casting issue. I'm sure many people will reply to this by "FFS MAKE PREDICTION LESS BUGGY, MYTHIC SUCKS ARSE". Great idea. Just not possible to make a perfect system. If they'd try prevent this, somewhat rare behaviour, other problems would arise. Mainly rubberbanding, ie. when you move and lag, you see yourself moving but as soon as the lag stops, the server resets your position where you just were. Now I've played a game which was using this method. And my god it was horrible, as the whole game lagged constantly. I couldn't even get out of a house I was in.

Edlina, even if you were correct, how smart is it to post it on BW for everyone to read? Just would get a lot more people abusing if it worked like that. Think next time.

Some people _MAY_ lag hack, but as it has been posted already, chance that GOA/Mythic does anything about it (heck they even ALLOWING you to play windowed) is slim as hell

This happens to me when im rooted/stunned/mezzed. I hold strafe or forward so i can move again as soon as the effect runs out as i dont want to be an easy target. I dont see myself move on the screen, but i've seen enemy tanks who started hitting me run off to my side then just come running back to finish me off when my lag ghost probably vanishes. I don't do it on purpose, but im not just gonna stand still and wait i'd rather be ready to move as soon as the effect wear out, which means holding or tapping on of hte movement buttons.

I aint rvred with my tank for sooo long but some of the time id stick on a caster or cleric and merily follow them running behind trying to spam rear styles then whoops they dissapear and re-apear 30-40 feet where i stuck on them........ target tooooooo far away to stick on/not in view. SO strange how it never happens when you gank a tank, just certain soft targets and certain clerics oh and also 1 on 1s

I have no doubt some people use "teh trick" but no proof and now its been public posted everyone and his dog will be ghosting about,strafing away to some extent

Only way to find out who is superior is to place them on similar machines, on the same switch as the server, not other way.

Is it fair that people who have laggy clients can do this? No. Is there anything that can be done about it? No. Is it the same sort of thing as what happenned at the beginning of retail with the speed hacks? Yip, exact same thing. Client side factors cause a player to have an advantage over others. Now that isn't really fair.

Also, now that this (DAoX lag thingy) is out in the open, as people have said, there will be lame idiots who will be using this to give themselves an advantage, that'll be fun

Quite convienient way to cover your own inability in rvr by stating that others ,when lagging, would have SUCH a huge advantage in battles ,that they would beat you even when you outnumber then in 2/1 or 3/1 odds.

And now heaps of people know about it who didn't before. Every Tom and Dick caster in every realm is going to be pulling this stunt before we know where we are.

Until Dook made his first post about me i had no idea that autorun sprint then /face could cause this lagcasting effect.Kinda hypocritical though to accuse me for something its not my fault.I play by the rules but the game has flaws,why am i cheater?
And this bug is not like lagging/strafing(which many many use btw).A caster can stay still when stunned so that he doesnt warp,but not using /face so that he wont lagcast will severely hinder his play.

Don't be silly Pbuck, that's not what we talk about.

We know you guys have the RR's to do great, your lag is just damned convenient. look at MM for example, they show some good potentiel and is always fun to kill, and they win sometimes too, but they loose more (when my grp meet them, wether I'm with Eclipse or Conquest, or whatever, doesn't matter) but imo when they all reach rr6+ they are going to be one of the toughest foes out there.

Talking about you killing 3fg low RR hibs is nothing special, my grp has done this often to albs and mids, you just gotta get the jump on them, that's not the point Pbuck, the point is the ~1fgvs~1fg battles, which is what's really the best fun.

I remember about a week ago with Eclipse killing your grp 3 times in a row in odins, but that has nothing to do with the fact most mid and hib tanks agree that you guys lag at extremely convenient times.

The point of my post was simply to point out that this lagcasting bullshit is used as an excuse by you/and other hibs(vidx) when we kill you in rvr.Pretty lame imo
