I hate to say it but there isn't an English manager anywhere that's up to the job. Hell you'd be better off stealing the Scotland manager or having Mourihio (can never spell his name) the ex-chelsea manager in charge.

Problem is more with the players, they're lazy and expect to win by turning up as they're in "the best league in the world" and therefor must be the best.

The FA would have to bring out the largest football wallet ever to get Mourihio as thier new coach, aflik he already said once after he left chelski, that he wasnt remotly interested in a national team job.

I would welcome an Italian manager, their teams always have good defense and passing.

England can defend, but with injuries and a shit goalie thats hard.
England can pass the ball very well.
England cant attack, 90% of the time they pass up to the strikers, then turn round and pass back...The reason we cant beat shit teams is because they play defensive, we only score on quick counters against good attacking teams.

An italian manager would feel at home with our team, but he'd use clever tactics and teach the players how to use their passing to create oppotunities.

Sounds familiar.

Oh no last time the guy was Swedish managing in Italy.

Had the FA round earlier, wanted my pet stone named 'Fluffy' to have the job, they said something about an inanimate objet being able to do less damage than the last lot...

Sadly Fluffy is busy this summer :(

An Italian coach would be a very good choice aflik for England,
would bring England back into the "A team to fear" catagory
wich i personally think is what they'r lacking atm. and thats not really ment as
an attack on the players or the coaches but more on the FA's choice of Concept.

What do I mean by that ?
Well, thease days, most coaches are/have become concept coaches, "defensive, offencsive, counter attackers, adaptive ect and so on", alot of people seem to hold the
view that the buck stops with the coach? Personally I disagree, the buck stops with the Assosiation/board/presidant ect! thease days with a coach you more than often hire a "concept" and thats what I'd say England needs "at least for a while" and england imo do have the players to become a feared team that may not get the huge victorie score wise, but lots and lots of 1-0's 2-1's ect, meaning safe vicories, and very hard to beat! Once the results start pouring in you can then loosen disiplin and go for the more attractive attacking football.

Disiplin & peace to evolvle would imo be the key for England

A German coach would get england into shape, you look how Germany play and how good they are at penalties. kinda says it all.

I just wonder how many of the really great footballing countries have had foriegn coaches managing their national teams? Doesnt anyone find it strange to have a foriegn coach for England?

I am pretty sure that no team has ever won the world cup with a foriegn coach leading them out, please correct me if i am wrong. I just dont see why England need to go abroad again, for a manager.

I dont ever recall a foriegner coaching Italy, Germany, Brazil or Argentina for that matter (though i am happy to be corrected).

if you want to be world cup winners

get Foppe De Haan.

i would seruously like a competition with:

Guus Hiddink
Foppe De Haan
Leo Beenhakker
Van Basten as managers / club coaches..

TITAN FIGHTS!

According to Wiki all world cup winning sides have been coached by a home grown manager.

However Greece won the 2004 european championship with a German coach.

I don't think the nationality of the coach should be important as long as they understand the country. I would like Fabio Capello because he is interested in the job and a manager that has proved he can win things. Beating Barcelona to the league last season was no easy achievement.

The wiki just makes my point for me. I just wonder what the reaction would be if a foriegn coach was brought in to manage one the other big nations (Brazil, Germany, Argentina or Italy).

All good that the Greeks won the European Championship with a German in charge, however, lets be realistic lowly Denmark won the cup with a Danish coach as well and certainly not the way forward for England unless you place England at the same level as countries like Botswana and Mongolia?!!??

Greece did something real special in the last European Championship but its a rarity for teams coached by foriegners to win trophies on the international football scene.

England will play shit football with some decent results, and everybody is going to whine about Capello because he cant get the most out of his material.

Just like with Svennis.

Capello's spartan methods dont suit a national team, let alone England.

Any national team needs a coach (not manager) who disenvolves good in stages. Benitez / Hiddink / Lippi comes to my mind, not very good at long seasons (cept Lippi), but superb tacticians when it comes to the likes of Champion League qualy matches.

I dont care about his methods. What england need is a manager with pedigree. Something Capello has in abundance. Capello isnt afraid of overhaul. Again, something we need. He is also vastly respected in the football world, which will help at club level. Can you imagine Harry Redknapp as england manager..

HR: Fergy, can you rest Rooney for me, i got a world cup qualifier comming up.
SAF: Lol Fo noob

Wheras someone like Cappelo, who has the respect of managers would probably get a bit of lee way with people like SAF

I have always had a lot of respect for Capello as a manager, as he has always got the job done. Proven track record and not just at one team either. However, i just dont think this guy or any other foriegn coach will be able to get the best out of England, regardless of his credentials as a manager.

England manager should be English or at the very least British.

Bear in mind, that Capello bases most of his training method in 100% physical condition in all their players. To achieve this, he uses an 8 months plan with his physical trainer (Massimo Neri, prolly the best trainer along with Walter di Salvo ex-ManU) in order to get his squad at the peak of its condition for the last quarter of the season. Dont get me wrong, Capello is one of my fav coaches, i saw Real Madrid n Roma mauling their rivals on the last 15minutes of the last 10 games of a season, when the other team is dragging their feet throu the field.

Wot im pointing out is that i find rly hard to achieve this on a national team, where you gather ur squad maybe a couple of days each month.
Plus, im of the ones who think that a national team MUST have a national manager :england:
