Has absolutely no DRM/protection apparently. It seems ubisoft want to test this out to see how it affects sales/piracy. The only semi-solid confirmation I've seen of this is an NFO from a piracy release group that's put it out there. They say there's no protection at all.

So basically, everyone buy it! It's only £25 from amazon/play and I think (if this information turns out to be accurate) it's worth buying just as a vote for no-drm in PC games. Hopefully if it's successful enough they'll ditch DRM and perhaps other publishers will follow suit. Wishful thinking perhaps but it's worth a try. Plus the game looks pretty good fun.

Anyway, the second I get confirmation of this, I'll be ordering it. I've also read mumurrings that the steam version isn't quite so clean, so retail box version is the one to go for. Usually works out cheaper than steam anyway.

So, anyone else interested in ordering?

Don't think I will be personally as I never really got into these games, but I can only agree with their sentiments over DRM. EA are up in arms as Spore, one of the most heavily DRM'd games ever to hit our hard drives has also topped the charts as the most pirated game currently. It's also hitting the likes of Rockstar with their bloody awful attempt at a GTA game on PC, lessons must be learned.

On which note, I wonder what the most pirated game ever is. I'd hazard a guess at something like Doom, the same 3 floppy discs did the rounds at 6th form at school more than the same copy of Razzle, and everyone I ever spoke to in the street was either asking if I had a copy or if I'd like a copy :D

And lets face it, did it do ID much harm? :)

Yup, it's been said dozens of times before but DRM only stops the second hand market, not piracy, and serves to piss off the legitimate customer. Need to find an official statement about PoP before I buy it, haven't found anything so far.

shame the new prince of persia is apparently a bit poo. It's also a game I would not bother with on the PC, it's clearly made for consoles then ported.

Same could be said for all the others and they worked just as well on PC as on console. I just use my xbrick pad - PC version is much cheaper too.

Says it all really. If you have an option of 2 similar cars, but one requires you to drive to the dealers once a day to verify it is the same car you bought, you'd instantly plump for the other one. And before time, criminals would find a way to stop you having to call into the dealers, "just because they can".
Lessons should be being learned by now. Stick with things like limiting or stopping online play as they are doing, it's effective on it's own and easily done. Otherwise there's absolutely no reason to stick all this silly DRM on it - 3 days to a week after release it's about as useful as a hot poker in an igloo.

Personally I think Valve have this one cracked. You can only play their games if registered on Steam, but once they are, you are free to delete/download as many times as you like, and you can have the game on as many computers as you like. Forever.

Valve have a pretty decent system but I still think 0 DRM is a good way to go. Spore shows that DRM doesn't reduce piracy so why punish paying customers. </broken record>

My copy arrived today and as far as I can tell they were true to their word. No DRM, no copy protection at all, not even a CD-Key or disc check. So basically it's taken ages, but finally a company has released a game that's as good as the pirate version! Hurray for Ubisoft, I hope it catches on.

As for the game itself, jolly good fun. Similar in many ways to the old ones but the combat is completely different. Good laugh but pretty shallow. Definitely worth the £25 for the PC version.

Yeah, I loved the game - especially the ending!

Elika is probably the best made female companion since Alyx in Halflife 2 imo, it doesn't hurt that shes jawdroppingly gorgeous either(so is the rest of the game however - I honestly cant get enough of cleansing the tainted grounds).

This is what the Stardock guy said:

"What we think people who publish games and music need to remember is this: The goal is not to eliminate piracy. The goal is to increase sales. People who are dedicated to stealing your product will steal it."
