Its nice. Been there for lunch a few times, usually on someone else's tab. There will inevitably be the opportunity for a bit of discreet star spotting (every time I've been its been theatrical types like Simon Callow, or BBC types like Paxman), but as long as you don't gawp like a slack-jawed yokel its a pretty "normal" restaurant.

The Ivy in LA is better for star spotting; saw Lisa Kudrow (haggard-looking) and a tits-oot Catherine Zeta-Jones in there (she was breastfeeding). Food was better in the London one though.

It wasn't exactly in full view, she was in a sort of side area by the reception, but it was public enough that I could see her every time I went outside for a smoke. And I have to admit, despite being very blasé about famous people I did gawp a bit. This was all 5-6 years ago.

Have eaten in the London Ivy a few times....food was yum, and there were a few celebs in there, but like others have said, the idea is not to gawp.

It was great -didn't gawp. Behaved well (ish). Saw Davina -much nicer looking in real life, got introduced to Stephen Gately -teeny weeny and Max Beesley -his male 'friend' was stunning.

Kate Thornton is better on TV. Lady Gaga flounced. Nicest was Gemma Alderton (sp? Quantum, St Trinians, Tess) Really sweet girl - had drinks in Soho house -didnt know who she was, just lovely and normal.

Food was really nice and we had our wine paid for -Bargain. Great fun not at all pretentious. Want to go again
