So someone else on the planet loves this masterpiece of cinematography then. Such a bizarre film that on paper looks like it will never work but is just so weird its great.

I was on another forum were someone was dissing how american wrestlers make such poor films, it was generally agreed that They Live (with Roddy Piper) was the exception, the amount of support this got surprized me.

There are lots of us around, but they sleep, we live :)

On the subject of John Carpenter (They Live), I am generally a fan of most of his films (Dark Star, The Thing, Escape from NY), but I haven't seen any recent ones (Mouth of Madness, Escape from LA, Vampires, Ghosts of Mars), can anyone who has seen them please comment.

You got to hand it to that guy, he directs, produces, writes and composes for most of his films, he even stars in a few of them !

Mouth of Madness I enjoyed a fair bit.

Escape from LA was more of the same as the NY prequel.

Vampires was gory, fun in places but largely forgettable.

Ain't seen Ghosts of Mars yet.

My fave JC film was Big Trouble in Little China. Got the 2-disc DVD version of it recently as I hadn't seen it in years.

Fart away, my friend. Everyone knows aliens use FreeBSD. Cheap bastards.

You almost made me say something there. Something along the lines of "any highly advanced being would!". I won't rise to the bait though :)

How anybody can rate alien above aliens is beyond me. Yes it was a groundbreaking film but aliens took it so much further and added action to it.

Alien didn't have the stupid annoying brat, which was Newt. 'nuff said. And Alien had decent actors too (the only person I liked in Aliens was Hudson).

It did have a stupid annoying cat tho :) I remember seeing Aliens at Liecester Square, they had a full sized replica of the "tank" parked outside !

my favourites, in no particular order:

Pulp Fiction
Reservoir Dogs
From Dusk Till Dawn
Jackie Brown
Fight Club (the simple "what the f*ck" factor)
Snatch
Wild Things (Neve Campbell & Denise Richards :D)
El Mariachi
Desperado
The Long Kiss Goodnight
American History X

the worst film in recent history is probably Dracula 2000, a complete pile of shite.

One of my faves is Man Bites Dog. Cult classic - Belgian black and white sick as fuck black comedy about a student camera crew who follow a suave killer doing his rounds.

The bit where he gives the granny a heart attack with his Magnum cos he cant be arsed to waste a bullet is genius.

... is Oliver Stone's Nixon.

A superbs study of a strong but flawed man. Anthony Hopkins is a genius and undoubtedly one of the finest actors in the world.

Just finished watching it again on meh new DVD. :)

Oh, anyone on the lookout for a new DVD player get yourself to an Argos store (or hold of an Argos catalogue and head to a decent electrical retail outlet) and look at page 3 (i think) of the 1/2 Price Sale booklet. Sony DAV-S300 for £199 down from £479 :) Pricing errors rule!

Not to mention the fact I got staff discount (15%) on it too, because our store prices matches with Argos :D

So long as you have proof (Argos 1/2 Price Sale catalogue will do) they have to sell them at that price, if they refuse ask to speak to their manager/superviser. It's policy, and is illegal for them to refuse to sell it at the advertised price unless they have retracted the item. Which I don't think they have :)
