He is, I checked immediately, his first film in like 25 years?

Looking at his IMDB, seems he has steadily been getting back into voice acting/acting - he's doing a sequel to Honey I Shrunk the Kids with Josh Gad too.

It's good to have Final Destination back, Bloodlines was much better than I was expecting it to be. Some fairly obvious little twists along the way but a couple of surprising ones too.

Didn't he quit acting because his wife was ill and then died at some depressingly young age and he wanted to devote all his time to raising their kids? Guess they are all grown up now. I can't think of many Hollywood actors who would be that selfless especially at maybe the peak of their career.

I was a bit sad it wasn't all set in the 60s but yeah, good.

Aye, she passed away from cancer iirc so he quit to raise their children like you said. He's a good bloke.

I don't think it was "selfless". I think he had a breakdown and couldn't face the world* (saw a documentary with people who knew him who said that once). It's not actually a great example for kids.

Having grown up in a single parent family, I fully understand that they can be great things, but the risk of them being incredibly shit is much higher - because if the only parental figure is a bit disfunctional then there's no balancing parent to balance out the disfunction. I genuinely worried a bit that he never remarried.

But fuck it, he was rich, his kids are fine. That sort of shit happening to anonymous people in poverty is the really bad thing.

*Edit: Which is something I can understand too. It's a lose-lose situation.

Wow you're such a massive cunt lol
Because I put his career exit down to mental health issues, rather than "selflessness"?

I'm really pleased he's now able to come out of retirement. In fact I'm really glad he's coming out of his house - because that's where he was at. His kids are nearly 40 now, so if it was "selflessness" he could have come out of retirement in 2005. Therefore I don't see what you're butthurt about.

If it's my opinions on single parent families that have hurt your ass - has your training to be "accepting" of all situations blinded you to the risks?

Season 1 was incredible, it's the only season the creator had written and ever intended to make. Then Netflix came back and demanded more because it was so successful and it shows with the seasons 2 and 3.

There's a US spinoff coming as well but it's directed by David Fincher so I'm optimistic.

There was ZERO advertising ANYWHERE for Season 3 (Which is out now...) - We watched the first episode on Sunday and haven't put it back on since.

I actually gave up on season 2 after a couple of episodes. Definitely a one and done concept.

Superman. Erm...I actually can't decide whether it was good or not. On the plus side it had the right comic-book tone after the miserable years of the DCEU, and Nicholas Hoult made a decent Lex Luthor who was actually a proper threat for once. But...I dunno, it felt like James Gunn had just picked out random DC characters he likes and threw them into a movie; so it was all a bit incoherent.

I didn't hate it, and there were a couple of impressive action scenes and one or two laugh out loud moments, but it was just a bit unsatisfying. A bit like this review.

I can't get over the fact that they went with "we have Henry Cavill at home"

Heads of State. Awful, from start to finish. Idris Elba really should be in better films.

Sounds like pretty much a short version of what Mark Kermode said. He said it was an incoherent mess - but he enjoyed it, and it was ultimately fun.

New Jurassic Park is proper shite, without going into spoilers I will simply say the ending is shit and the entire movie is a snore fest.

I saw one of the review quotes they went with on the poster was something like "the best Jurassic Park in the last decade", it's pretty telling that that was the most glowing quote they could find to include. All the ones from the last decade have been shit, you have to go back like 30 years to get to a good one.

My expectations were low going into it but it was actually better (dare I say much better) than I thought it was going to be.

The Unholy Trinity, on the other hand, was absolutely shit.

True, though, in its defence, I did like the second one, I thought Julianne Moore and Jeff Goldblum did a good job in that one... wasn't sold on Vince Vaughn though.
