What's that supposed to mean? I'm facepalming you because you keep saying dumb things and it's an appropriate response.

While driving home a dog walks out in the road. I can break and avoid hitting it or I can run it over to try and prove a point. I decide not to avoid the dog and hit it then I am an arsehole. He could have taken both the teams cars out of the race in a crash he admitted he could avoid. He is an arsehole.

Surely if he had done it deliberately he would have made a better job of it?

How can you do a better job then what he done? Took his main competition completely out the race and obtained very little damage to his own car in return thus massively increasing his lead in the championship!

What would you expect him to do? Pull out a gun and shoot hamilton?

Tightest quali session for a long time. If any of you are part time F1 watchers I would definitely think this race will be one worth watching tomorrow!!

Blimey!

The spectacle is good but in previous years it has been the usual road track procession since few overtaking areas.

yeah, i think the real excitement was qualifying. the race will be mainly down to strategy and pitstops, with safety car as expect that to come out on this tight track

That safety car really made LH work for the win though, very good driving indeed. Bit sad Nico had his problem as I would have loved to see them battle it out but there was still lots of interest throughout.

Championship is very much alive (y)

yup, in a season of no dnf's Hamilton would wipe the floor with him currently. It only the fact there been DNF's that have made it an interesting last 5 races. The double point race is gonna be off massive importance now, could be whoever wins that takes the title

Need a 15 point buffer going into the last race to remove the chance of a 1/2 finish with the double points winning for the guy who's behind.

2 weeks to Japan :) Championship on.

Would suck if he lost out just because of the stupid double point rule.

Also! My brother in-law just got head-hunted by Mercedes so will tap him up for some paddock tickets next season.

Let's not rule Ricciardo out either. It's unlikely but he's not far off, especially if there are some Merc DNFs between now and Abu Dhabi.

Vettel statement:
"After 15 successful years with Red Bull and beautiful I've decided to leave the team later this year. It is a big step and of course there one is hard to make such a decision. The chance of Formula 1 to go, the first win with Toro Rosso, the four world title with Red Bull Racing and many more have Red Bull and welded me to a kind of family. We combine all the wonderful memories of our times together that no one can take from us. I would like to express once again big thanks to Dietrich Mateschitz, Dr. Helmut Marko, Christian Horner, the Red Bull entire family, Red Bull Racing, Red Bull and Toro Rosso. I thank all of you for the confidence they have placed in me, and for their great support over the last year. About my future plans I'll announce something soon. "

Alonso to Mclaren announcement soon?

Kyvat+Ricc confirmed @ Redbull for 2015.

Jordan was saying the other day that it could be on the cards that Vettel and Alonso would end up at McLaren. I guess that's not going to happen now but those 2 in the same team would be... interesting... The "Alonso to McLaren" speculation was rife at Singapore, they were anticipating an announcement in Japan so it looks imminent.

Interesting choice by Alonso; he's taking quite a risk at 33, the McLaren-Honda won't necessarily be quick out of the box, and he could spend a year or two developing it.

Yeah Lewis deserved the win on that overtake alone. Bianchi apparently crashed into the tractor removing Sutil's car, it sounds pretty grim tbh. It's been confirmed that he was unconscious when he was taken to hospital (by road because no air lift because weather). :(

Ouch, seen a few pictures of the aftermath, and the cockpit area on his car was pretty damaged, so he took a major head impact w/ the tractor :(

He seems to have gone under the back of it, which is (very unfortunately) at about head height. The pictures look awful and the news coming out sounds awful (major head injury, being operated on, in a critical state). :(

I've seen one image which shows a lot more than most of the usual news outlets are. The damage to the car is horrendous. I don't really know whether to post it in here?

I refrained earlier (and I suspect ECA did too), the images aren't hard to find if people look. There's no gore or anything but they're pretty horrific all the same. I think some of the pictures look worse than they actually are though, did they have to remove the bodywork behind his head to get to him better? In some of the earlier pictures it is still there and then in the later shots of him in the car being tended to it looks as though the tractor just wiped out the whole top half of the car.

The good news at the moment is that he's out of surgery and not relying on a life-support system.

Something that I've not seen mentioned so far is how lucky it is that no stewards got caught up in the accident.

The shot I've seen shows the whole top of the car missing, and the doctor only just on the scene. There is no other medical personnel there yet. They would have arrived within a second or two. There's a lot of shots of battered marussias being passed off as this accident. The top of the car was wiped off on the tractor.
