Apparently Hamilton and Rosberg came round to find Alonso's car stopped on the racing line and had to take evasive action, off the track in Hamilton's case, so I guess it's for a reason... was a nice touch though

Wasn't dangerous in a way, it was fucking lethal and Webber is lucky to be alive - Alonso was an absolute muppet - in no circumstances would you stop to have a chat or pick up a mate just around a blind bend on a dual carraigeway where cars do 70mph let alone on a racetrack where cars take that corner at more than that speed during the race and probably 60-70 on a slowdown/inlap.

Won't make the blindest bit of difference. They would've had to have done it for the last 2 or 3 races to make an impact this season (which Vettel won anyway, thereby extending his lead with double points). A gimmicky waste of time.

I've been a get up at 4am to watch F1 type since 1986. Stopped this season. KERS to overtake and the push-to-remove-downforce buttons were a joke. Loss of free-to-air in a sport that was already becoming dull enough to require overtaking aids was taking the piss (I may have paid for it 20 years ago).

I haven't even been reading this thread - but as soon as I saw the "double points" debacle I thought I'd have to post.

This tbfh. Turn it back into a bloodbath and it might pique my interest again. Until then I've managed to free up 17 weekends a year for epic mountain bike rides down stupidly steep terrain. Why watch a fake race featuring rich people we'll never meet when you can take part in a real adrenaline pumper with your mates and get shitfaced aftewards

Got to feel bad for Ricciardo though. I don't know how much input he had in the technical setup but to be DQ'd in your home race, especially when you've go a podium has got to be gutting.

It being his home race, yes, but overall I am sure he is still pretty happy. They've clearly got a good car underneath them which will only improve throughout the season. For me this rings alarm bells of another Vettel season, though I really hope Mercedes and McClaren have their some answers to that!

It was a good car only because they were cheating. They knew what they were doing, to be honest the DQ didn't bother them because their car was at the front for the race and the words Red Bull were spoken dozens of times. Then the words Red Bull were written about dozens of times in relation to the DQ. It's all good for Red Bull.

True to a point, but the fact remains - when the power is there the handling of the car seems almost effortess, and that's the key. We already know that Renault (and Ferarri, to a lesser degree) need to improve performance, but that's way easier than having to change the fundamental car design.
