The best class | PvE

I have taking this subject up before but due to the major changes in 1,62 the berserker will no longer be the most viable class Solo + BB in PvE.

(If you do not agree with my statement above I am very intrested in hearing your arguments.)


So, what remains now is the warrior, thane *cough* and the Savage.


Which of these classes are most viable Solo + BB in PvE, and why?


To me it seems to be norse/dwarf warrior axe specced or a Norse Savage 2 handed hammer specced.

Please share all your thoughts with me in the search for the best class PvE.

Thane gets my vote, and now their slightly more viable in RvR as well. Its amazing, i'm finding i don't mind using mana on thanes these days where as before i wouldn't even res one they were so gimped...


..oh and thanes are gimps

I would say a warrior with shield spec.

2 warriors could team up and do alot of dmg in PvE.
They both gaurding each other, wich takes there block rate skyhigh.

At higher lvls i would say a savage, if you have a buffbot, but without they are probably the worst class

do the Dodens Gruva run to emain (as in, not porting via the telekeeps) with 2 thanes and a BB then come and say that thanes are over warriors, did it with 2 warriors and a BB and it took us something like 2 hrs

but warriors are truly pve gods (without BB I usually solo oranges with no downtime except for end, with BB I take reds and low purps with no downtime at all) oh, and I dont have a BB, only use friends BB's

Get yellow mobs to half health before they even get to you?
Then beat them down with melee.

Not to mention the self str/con buff, and the best damage add in midgard.

Still gimped in RvR, but atleast now we dont have to charge in to earn our rps... simply finding a nice caster and spam thors lighing at 'em until they die.

With BB's, Warriors win hands down. As a buffed up thane I can do oranges easily, reds are doiable.. wont touch purples unless I got IP ready... with a warrior, and his superior defence, they can take down purples at higher level.

Thanes > Warrior for fun though

warrios can survive the longest, but thanes might do a little more damage . Which makes mobs die faster, which means more exp and more money . Aslong as someone is healing you .

I have both axe warrior and hammer savage.

I would say both are very viable pve, but in different ways.

The warrior excels in simplicity, switching between shield/1h / 2h depending on defensive or offensive mode.

The 2h savage has the ability to do huge amounts of damage over time, more then any other current daoc character i would say. He also have very good defenses, but it comes at the price of constant hp drainage.

So the best mele pve character is imo a 2h savage guarded by a 50 shield warrior.

But for toon with excellent solo capacity i would roll a dorf with 44 hammer, 50 shield 39 parry, that is with auto-training weapons to 44 factored in.

With that, and decent buffs, you can chain kill upto orange/red with your 2h and switch to your shield for harder mobs, duoing the easier wows.

If you always have a bot available, any savage spec is very strong. Maybe look at a 44 h2h 49 savagery 4 parry toon - very suitable for rve imo.

Both savages and warriors are very viable in rvr as well, if you like to spice yer pve up a bit.

I agree with Novamir. A spiritmaster with a stunbot beats any other kind of PvE! Being able to kill 10 or more yellow-redcons in one pull in a group of 2 (or solo with a lvl 50 healer standing next to you)

absolutely a Thane, we are even better then a warrior cuz when a fellow played ( healer or something ) has aggro we can take aggro with insta AE and help the healer. we can break mezz ( and pls don't flame like little kids with: yeah huhuh mjolnir on a mezzed group :/ ) we slam and block alot, and I pwn warriors rvr is totaly different though

As a warrior it is wise to autotrain your choice of weapon by speccing another weapon and then respec single spec line at 40 to benefit from the autotrain and then spec your weapon of choice.

But how many points will you be able to autotrain to 40?

You can't autotrain like that., you can't spend *any* points in *any* weapon as long you auto-train.

Its really only an option if you have another character to PL you.

It will only give a few levels extra of parry, so its not a big deal anyway, autotraining to 48 would give 77, 44 - 65 and 40 - 54 extra spec points.

I'm 99% sure that's not true, e.g a Warrior can lvl up by training in Hammer whilst letting Sword and Axe autotrain then at 40 he can use his single line respec to take advantage of these extra points.

Really doesn't make a big difference as has been said, few extra points in Parry at best.

Id say thanes too, their rep as gimps has long been proven quite bollocks. What I think makes us stand above warriors atm is our range attacks, Mjol and the DD make a lot of difference.

This thread kinda started well till some arse who cant play a char for toffee had to bring up the "buffbot", try playing 1 char alone and see ffs, if you need one youre a true gimp

Regarding the warrior I wonder what the advantages and disadvantages between these two specces are:

Axe 50 42 Sheild 39 Parry
Axe 50 50 Sheild 28 Parry

Is the 50 sheild spec only the better option for the guard abillity?

300+dex on warrior is pretty fun tho, can go afk vs any lowpurple mob and come back and collect the loot

50 shield instead of 42 shield means you can brutalize... with that high shield, you're gonna be blocking like a mad man... so might as well utilise it

besides, parry is bugged in RvR atm.. will be fixed soon

With 50 Axe 42 Shield 39 Parry u get 1.5% more defense then with 50 Axe 50 Shield 28 Parry. I'd go for 50,50, 28 cause i think the level 50 shield style is worth the points, both in Pve and in Rvr, saves lots of endurance compared to slam.

What they said: go 50,50,28, especially for PvE but basically for anytime you don't have at least end regen 4. And with the end regen nerf coming up...
