Well that was both encouraging and desperately poor. We get 2nd place in group F.

We just fart arse around too much at times, we didn't take advantage of when Slovakia were being slightly less defensive.

Sorry he was clearly knackered.
I agree. He was played out wide for too long. But he can still hit a ball knackered.

Was a much better performance, but studge & vardy need to be closer together up front.

I'm still pretty upbeat about it so far tbh, we've been the better team in all 3 of our matches, gave away a stupid goal in the Russia game and did everything but score last night.

Much better retention of the ball than i've seen England do for a while (apart from Wilshere giving the ball away too much) and going forward the goals will come in the knockout stages if we play the same way. Group stages are about getting out of the group, yes we should have been 1st, but to progress in a tournament your going to meet the best teams so I'm not sure why everyone is so doom and gloom about 2nd.

suppose my concerns are mainly around the managers decision making.

1. Russia game, substitutions were wrong when we should have continued to push Russia back and not give them an opportunity to get one soft goal

2. 6 changes for the final group match? at least leave arguably your 2 best performers in the tournament so far (Rooney and Walker) in the team

3. Wilshere, what a surprise someone who has only played 2 hours of competitive football all season looks off the pace and jaded, never should have been taken over someone like Drinkwater or Nolan in the first place. ridiculous decision.

hey ho, we're in the knockouts, lets see what happens :)

I think we should progress and like you say, to win anything you have to beat the best teams at some point or another.

Its still feels wrong that we drew last night, yes they basically just put 11 men in their penalty box but we should have been able to unlock that. Vardy was not really of much use in that situation, Kane and Walker should have been brought on at half time and then have Walker ping in some crosses. Something would have come from it at some point, especially with the amount of possession we had around their box.

Woy got it completely wrong last night (again) still fucking about with experimental teams, 3 games into a tournament.

Wheelchair should just get on the next plane home, completely pointless him being there.

This.

From how he sets his team up to the people he picks, their position and why.

The players he has at his disposal are all really good. Although I agree with resting Kyle Walker - he's needed for the next game and Clyne did very well.

Just shows how rubbish vardy will be if he goes to arsenal. He plays wih his speed and on the break. Not intricate in the box. Or much of putting contested crosses in. Imo

Hodgson wasn't experimenting, he thought he could rest some of his players and still get the result. Vardy is so far from being a complete striker. It says something that Woy is lucky enough to have 2 of the Prem's 3 top scorers at his disposal and has somehow managed to make both look fairly tame.

Maybe I'm biased but having someone like Carroll would've been perfect against a team like Slovakia, none of our strikers have proper presence in the box.

They do if they're played in and around it.

Studge up the middle. Game was made for him.

He certainly would be a nice last ten minute option. Vardy out, Kane and Carroll in the box and chug in some crosses, and then anything can happen

And one of the quarter finals will be between the winner of Spain vs. Italy and the winner of Germany vs. whoever they play in the last 16.

I guess we want Iceland to win/draw and Portugal to lose.

Although that being said Iceland are also pretty defensive.

I'm sure the rest of the world is confused why someone's grandad is managering the England team, it must look so quaint.

Any one of about half of the teams in the competition are managed by (probably) grandads.
