You can't ask any more of the players. You pray to god that we get no injuries next year you can also ask the club to buy more quality but the players today ran themselves into the ground.I disagree soze, you can ask more. Lack of quality in the end and Bayern sailed through.
Giroud's lack of pace was the biggest problem I think.
Oh look, they rescinded Kaboul's red card. That's the second time we've been fucked over in a big match, I wish they'd get it right the first time.![]()
I think the big thing is having both. The hold up man and the pace. If Theo was playing he gives you the pace on the counter that Giroud lacks. Our lack of quality depth up front showed last night. At 70 minutes we should have been taking Giroud off and bringing on someone with dangerous pace but we do not have that player when Theo is injured. As it stands any chances we did make were wasted by exhausted players.Few seasons ago everyone was saying we needed a big striker. Too many crosses going in and no one close to getting on the end of one. Main problem last night was that we were held so deep that there was no one for Giroud to pass to when he was holding. Pace is an issue and is probably why Wenger is interested in Remy.
I am not diffusional though
It could actually be Spurs turn to beat Arsenal to 4th.
Arsenal could spend but they wont. Not without a change of manager.
It was not a panic buy at all it was worked on all summer. It was the first time we spent that money because it was the first time we could. It is not hard to understand but it appears to be far to easy to ignore when slagging us off. We will not go into debt to buy players to chase a title. We do not have a rich owner who can spend a billion quid winning us trophies. We have to do it the slow and hard way. Previously our sponsorships were being used to service the stadium debt. Now all that is left is the 20 year loan so this season we had £40m plus to spend which we did. Next season we will have even more thanks to new sponsorship deals and the new TV money. That was a panic buy more than anything. Something to appease the fans. They need at least 5 players.
I really, really don't see this happening. I'm back to my default pessimistic outlook (that I'm thoroughly used to as a Spurs fan).It could actually be Spurs turn to beat Arsenal to 4th.
We'll struggle more. We haven't exactly been convincing in the "they should win that easily" games. After March we've got Sunderland, West Brom, Fulham, Stoke, West Ham and Villa, all of which we should win... all it would take is us to falter against a few of these and for United or Everton to string a couple of results together and before you know it we're back in 6th.Spurs were shocking at the weekend...or at least they were when Chelsea brought a 12th player on...but over the next 10 (or whatever) games I think Spurs will do OK whereas Arsenal will struggle.
buying lots of new players can lead to a disastrous season!
Not instantly, as I recall (certainly not with City).Worked fine for shitty and chelski.
Money talks. Just watch how much United spend in the summer.
