Nuh uh. The way we're playing at the moment we won't even be in the Europe League. So the joke's on you!

Would've ruined the momentum of the thread if I'd put that bit in though.

I disagree soze, you can ask more. Lack of quality in the end and Bayern sailed through.

You can't ask any more of the players. You pray to god that we get no injuries next year you can also ask the club to buy more quality but the players today ran themselves into the ground.

What shone through tonight was Arsenals lack of depth at the moment more than anything. Few players just looked like they had run themselves into the ground second half and there wasn't the quality on the bench to come on and maintain any kind of momentum.

Giroud's lack of pace was the biggest problem I think. Through balls just aren't an option when he's upfront. He holds it up really well and makes great runs when an Arsenal player is ahead or alongside him but that rarely happened tonight. With Walcott on the pitch Arsenal might have had an outside chance of getting something from the game.

1-1 might seem like a good result but if Bayern needed a win they would have got it easily.

Giroud's lack of pace was the biggest problem I think.

Few seasons ago everyone was saying we needed a big striker. Too many crosses going in and no one close to getting on the end of one. Main problem last night was that we were held so deep that there was no one for Giroud to pass to when he was holding. Pace is an issue and is probably why Wenger is interested in Remy.

How the ref never booked Robben for that first farcical dive was the biggest mystery for me last night. Second one that won the pen was equally soft. If he'd been booked the first time the second probably would not have happened. Great player but a cheat. For all UEFA/FIFA's words on the subject they are doing nothing about it. Bayern's Ctr back was another who kept rolling around under minimal contact. Poldolski barely touched him running past early in the first half and he goes down holding his face like he's been punched. Worst thing in football for me, hate it.

Schweinsteiger's run into the box that set up the goal was superb. Made a fool out of Arsenal's midfield

I think the big thing is having both. The hold up man and the pace. If Theo was playing he gives you the pace on the counter that Giroud lacks. Our lack of quality depth up front showed last night. At 70 minutes we should have been taking Giroud off and bringing on someone with dangerous pace but we do not have that player when Theo is injured. As it stands any chances we did make were wasted by exhausted players.

I am not diffusional though so I do not think we should have a £50m striker who rides the bench till the 90th minute. As we play with one striker it will always be a bigger target man with the midfielders rushing on. With Theo and Ramsey last night we may have got another goal.

Lack of squad size is what is screwing Arsenals season. Like people said at the start of the season, they won't win anything this season...again. Even when they were on top for most of the season it was obvious they couldn't keep up. Its getting worse too, now that their single purchase is injured they have even less players than last season.

It could actually be Spurs turn to beat Arsenal to 4th.

Spurs were shocking at the weekend...or at least they were when Chelsea brought a 12th player on...but over the next 10 (or whatever) games I think Spurs will do OK whereas Arsenal will struggle.

I'd lol at that. But I kinda don't want it.

The extra cash will help spuds challenge next year (which will be a tough one for Liverpool I think) and I don't want the competition. Arsenal can spend spend spend if Wenger pulls his finger out and with the Mancs set to spend like they've never spent before, Chelski and Man CIty living on bottomless daddy-cash then Spurs being more cash rich means more direct competition for us.

Having said that. It won't happen. Arsenal for 4th at least. Us for 3rd I reckon.

Arsenal could spend but they wont. Not without a change of manager.

That was a panic buy more than anything. Something to appease the fans. They need at least 5 players.

United need at least that, if not more. And remember folks, buying lots of new players can lead to a disastrous season!

It was not a panic buy at all it was worked on all summer. It was the first time we spent that money because it was the first time we could. It is not hard to understand but it appears to be far to easy to ignore when slagging us off. We will not go into debt to buy players to chase a title. We do not have a rich owner who can spend a billion quid winning us trophies. We have to do it the slow and hard way. Previously our sponsorships were being used to service the stadium debt. Now all that is left is the 20 year loan so this season we had £40m plus to spend which we did. Next season we will have even more thanks to new sponsorship deals and the new TV money.

As for Spurs I think we have a good chance of beating them this weekend with them having a European game Thursday and tending to be a bit shit after playing in Europe we have an excellent chance. That will leave us 9 points clear with a game in hand, even if we get nothing out of City and Chelsea there is still a 6 point gap.

And Arsenal are in the best position in the FA Cup we have been in for years.

I really, really don't see this happening. I'm back to my default pessimistic outlook (that I'm thoroughly used to as a Spurs fan).

We'll struggle more. We haven't exactly been convincing in the "they should win that easily" games. After March we've got Sunderland, West Brom, Fulham, Stoke, West Ham and Villa, all of which we should win... all it would take is us to falter against a few of these and for United or Everton to string a couple of results together and before you know it we're back in 6th.

Looks like City got reamed again. I do hope they fail to win the premiership too.
