Why are people calling for the window to shut before the season starts, all of a sudden? I know there have been mumblings about it before but everybody seems a bit louder about it this year.

Lamela all but signed for Spurs apparently. Such an exciting player. Spurs squad is looking abusrdly good. I guess this + Willian means Bale is definitely off?

Apparently the Coentrao bit of the deal has fallen through (I read earlier that he "needed convincing") so it might well have to be all cash (£93m of it, lol) if they want Bale.

Spurs have only spent £22m net in the transfer window

It's not very well laid out but he suggests (I think) that with the increased TV revenue this season and everything else we could buy Willian and still be cost neutral, with a lower wage bill. I think.

I quite like the idea myself it means that every is ready to go and teams are finalised in time for the start. Though you would need all leagues to kick off on the same date.

It's just stupid to have a transfer window, but have it overlap the first fortnight of the season. Makes no sense and never has. Either no transfer window (lol) or it ends the day before the season starts imo.

It is too hard to make work while leagues kick off at different time. If Spain kicks off a week sooner then you cant buy any players in that league then as they cant be replaced. I am not sure how wide the difference between kick off dates is but that is one pitfall I can see.

Well, when money wasn't quite so rampant it was less of an issue. Can you not see a massive problem with Abramovic or another owner-cum-sugar-daddy losing their shit after a bad loss and going out and buying a new squad half way through the season? It would be lunacy! Could be quite entertaining though.
