No, it's dependent on length of loan, loans between clubs, loans between divisions etc. I can't be arsed to keep track of it :D

Football league clubs can take players from other division (including the prem) for up to 3 months until mid November after which its emergency loans only until the Jan transfer window. Thats what football manager told me.

Nothing wrong with paying teams to win, you should be trying to win anyway a bigger team saying here is £1m for doing what you were already trying to do anyway is no big deal. Trying to get a team to lose on the other hand is wrong.

wasnt man city stadium name deal for like 400 million?

and on the laudrup thing i kinda agree with him - hell it might help financially struggling teams if Real Madrid or Barca are betting on the smaller team!

as long as the club/player doesnt get any kind of "return" other than the satisfaction of paying a bonus to a winning team

This is a bit of a joke, no?

http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/news/psg-talks-100m-deal-152353772.html

PSG get shirt sponsorship worth 100m a year.

From what I understand the FFP rules would deem that sponsorship as unreasonable. Man City are currently sponsored by Etihad that are very closely linked to the actual owners (substance over form into account, they're pretty much the same owners) and are currently paying something ridiculous to be able to 'sponsor' the team (don't have figures to hand but remember seeing them a while ago). For a team that hadn't won anything, the sponsorship income would be considered unreasonable and if anything, a bit suspect to the relevant authorities. Now they've won a few cups and the league this is more 'believable' but I remember thinking at the time that they'd have to win the Champions League once or twice in order to have some ground to stand on and say that they are now 'worth' the sponsorship fee being paid to them. I've not dug into it yet but I'm suspecting this kind of spend results in a net tax gain for them.

PSG are pretty much in the same boat. Their benefit is that they have a bigger claim when it comes to them being an 'established' team but they're gonna have to win the Champions League which, obviously, only one team can win. It'll be interesting what happens to the loser(s) of this fight for the title (assuming the FFP rules come into play).

Aye you real? So City pay a team £1 million a player to win a match against Arsenal because your side losing secures City the title and that is ok? You know what happens right? The players think fuck it, dose up on PED's because the risk of getting caught is so slight and they have the game of their lives.

It is outright match corruption.

That is far too dramatic for me. Arsenal offered £1m (£1m a player is not going to happen 19 players including the subs and the manager and coaches, that's £25m) to "win" a game that they would already be trying to win. Now its not just the first 11 that would want a share it is the coaches and manager as well. So 25 people share a million quid. Which is £40k each. Now I don't imagine many starters in the Premiership earn less than £10k a week. So you thinking that a whole team would risk a year long ban or £520k for a £40k pay off is madness. The FA will never see the stats for a game where a player runs 4 times further than normal at a faster pace than normal and not order a drugs test.

You miss the point, first of all the whole team aren't drug tested, often none of the players are and then some weeks 3 of the 11 will be. The chances of getting caught for a short term 'fix' are slim. Second, £11 million is nothing to the likes of City and PSG who are looking to build empires at any cost, if you allow win payments to other sides which in itself is match fixing you will start to see an increase in corruption to counter it. The only way to stop the rot is to ban any kind of payments between clubs for anything other than player/staff transfers. Otherwise you end up with the complete clusterfuck that is gripping Italian football.

As for your drug testing comment about the stats, by the time the test is ordered and taken the PED's can be flushed from the players system, the FA never move fast anyway but if you look at what is happening in cycling you have known drugs cheats giving clean samples with as little as 30 minutes notice.

You are a smart guy Soze, think about it. Give an inch and the bastards will take a mile, at some point this has to be about the sport and not about the money or the game is truely fucked.

Seems like a shit idea, giving rich teams an extra advantage and allowing external money to help determine the result in any way.

I don't see how a player could cheat a test though, they're taken to the lab as soon as they walk off the pitch. Cech said by the time he'd got to the dressing room after the champions league final, it was 2 hours later and he'd missed all the celebrations.

It isn't that like that at PL level from what I understand, for a starter the testing isn't consistent at every game and neither is the number of players tested.

Let us get beyond the drug stuff though, the promise of a big payoff (City and PSG have many millions to throw at the problem) is enough to induce any player into extra effort, especially if they had nothing to play for beforehand. Therefore they have taken payment to potentially alter the result of a game.

It only takes 1point, hell even 1 goal to turn a second placed side into Champions and help build a legacy, laying the foundations of an empire. It is naive to think it couldn't happen when we have already seen exactly that on the continent, especially in Italy.

BREAKING: John Terry and Frank Lampard are on the bench for Chelsea. Oscar, Juan Mata, Eden Hazard and Fernando Torres all start. Hmmm. Not a bad front four, eh?

Sexy.

Oh look, Charlie Adam is still an outrageous thug with absolutely no talent. No wonder Stoke signed the cunt.

Ramires looks brilliant as a CDM tbh. Bossing the midfield right now, he's everywhere.

Sounds like we've turned into Arsenal though with the way Stoke are playing?
