In the pre match interview he was asked if he'd scored any similar, he replied, "Yes, against Man United when I was playing for Newcastle". To which Adrian Chiles and the other cretins on ITV started taking the piss and calling him cocky. Useless cunts like them should be no where near football.

On todays match. Hernandez seems to be a really likeable character tbh, don't know many footballers who would laugh with the keeper after he pulls off a world-class save.

Apparently he's a really nice guy. There was a story last year about how he did something nice for a fan, wasn't there? I forget the deets but it was heartwarming.

It involved tagliatelle. I don't know why I remember that.

I thought it was some random encounter in an off licence or something... But the mother of the kid wrote a letter to the Mail or something saying how lovely he was... It's all very vague, I know.

The nicest 'celebrity' I've ever served was a young footballer. Strange to associate footballers with manners, I know.

He walked towards me, and as somebody who's son is a fan of the team he plays for I knew who he was as soon as he spoke to me.

At a hundred miles an hour and clearly flustered he said "I was wondering please if you could help me Miss. Do you sell - I'm sorry, I cannot pronounce it in English. Tagleeeteeelea. I'm sorry. That doesn't sound right. I can write it for you.....oh but my spelling not so good either. Is OK. Thank you anyway."

I quickly reassured him I knew what he wanted and I'd show him where it was.

The whole walk around to the pasta aisle he apologised for not being able to find it himself, for 'troubling' me and even for his pronunciation.

When we got there it was like I'd taken him to a case of buried treasure. his face lit up and he said 'Oh this is it. Yes! Thank you so very much Miss.'

Then he pulled out a 5 pound note and said 'for you'

I laughed and asked him what it was for and he said 'A tip. Because you help me so much.' When i explained that we can't accept tips and it's not generally customary to even be offered them, he blushed and said he was confused with tipping because it's very different where he's from - but to know that he was very grateful.

I finally told him I knew who he was and that my son was a fan. He was very pleased, and we talked for a few moments about his team and then we said our goodbyes.

I told my son when I got home and his face lit up, although he was annoyed at me for not getting an autograph! I didn't even think to ask!

The next day though, I was called by name to the customer service desk - and who stood there but my mystery footballer. He must have read the name on my badge. It turned out that he'd brought my son a signed shirt and even brought an unsigned photo with him so that he could dedicate it personally to my son once he'd asked me for his name.

Truly nice person.

His name? Most of you probably won't have heard of him. Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez.

Villa win the Nextgen final and get relegated in the same season. At least 2012/2013 will be memorable.

What a don. Little bastard always scores against us though (except today \o/) so I can't like him too much. :p

That's it. A supermarket, not an offy. A really nice gesture to go back the day after, though.

Heh, bless 'im, 'arry doesn't beat about the bush.
We gave away the worst goals I have ever seen in my life. Scandalous goals. Penalty, losing the ball and own goal. It was an absolute disaster

Was Beckham any good? I don't think I've seen him play a match since his England days.

He's still got it, obviously he'd dictate play a bit more if their opponents weren't Barca, but still he had a good game.

Yeah I thought he did well. Zlatan had a pretty uneventful opening 70-odd minutes and was blaaaaatantly offside for the first equaliser. Thiago Silva had a great game.

Valdes fumbling a shot again was sublime, opens it up slightly as a bit more of a contest at Camp Nou, especially if Messi is absent as Barca looked pretty leggy without him in the side.

Thiago Silva MoTM for me, an absolute rock at the back it's just a shame he's going to be stuck in the cesspit that is Ligue1 as he deserves to play in a top league. Zlatan scoring was even more lol and Alexis playing for the penalty shows me all that is wrong at football in this day and age.

Can't put my finger on why I detest Barcelona so much, well until they started demanding the ball back because two of their players took each other out.. oh and the playacting and general cuntishness from the usual culprits. Shame really, a team with the likes of Messi, Xavi and Iniesta should be adored not scorned.

Enjoyed PSG's performance, with a bit more luck they'd have won this. Beckham impressed despite his age as did young Lucas Moura who had the beating of Alba on a number of occassions.

Set up nicely for the 2nd leg.
