In general we looked tired, City at home next weekend after Hearts midweek - hoping we play a scratch XI on Thursday

The Europa is a nightmare for a team with pretences of finishing in the top four. Only those teams in the Champions League itself, and possibly Liverpool if they could field a team of central midfielders, have the squads for two lengthy competitions.

Also playing Thursday and Sunday is pretty shit.

well... Pros and Cons... Chelsea - chance of winning premier league, champs league, cups etc AND more money

cons - russians

Tottenham - best players are unsettled as they want to go to a bigger club, no champs league, chance of winning cups

cons - less money AND Jowley manager...

I love Daily Fail headlines; he hardly "blasts" Mata; he simply states Chelsea offered him a better deal. Not even a rant by 'Arry's standards.

Yup, but in reality even if chelsea were offering the same wages as spurs, the lads gonna choose Chelsea just because they are challengers.

Hmm... when did redknapp say that? The only interviews I saw where he mentioned Mata, where those where he said he hoped that meant they didn't approach Modric again.

Harry always will be bitter about missing players, and it will only get worse.

Players that go to spurs are:
1) Not challenging for any title
2) Not on wages they could be earning
3) Will be held to ransom even if they had been given promises
4) Going to see all the clubs top players not wanting to play as upset.

If you were willing to accept a deal with spurs, you would be sure to have a buyout clause in the contract that isnt far above what you signing there for. So Mata for instance would have a £32m-35m clause in the contract so he wasnt stuck there forever if he shone.

If I was a premiership manager I would be looking to buy Hazard right now, no other reason but to troll Wenger.

To be honest I dont understand Nasri. It is clear he his going for the money now... afteral he has implied that they are a last resort, yet if he waited for a year he could go to whatever team he wanted without arsenal having a say.
But all he is thinking is instant increase in income. Sure city may have a chance of getting a trophey, however i would wait 12months and sign for one of the 3 prefered clubs

Nope, my reply sounded bitter but he was never an Arsenal fan we have no right to expect him to stay loyal for half the money.

the real question is... will Wenger buy anyone with the 40-50 million squids floating in his pocket?

I doubt Man U would pay £205k a week (if that figure is real) and City have a chance at silverware so why wait for less money? Prestige in our league really means nothing to a foreign player, Its a great sound bite but not important at the end of the day.

Completely disagree. Man City have a much better chance than Arsenal of winning silverware. If Wenger does not buy new players his very average team is going to hit a glass ceiling. I don't think his current squad is capable of finishing inside the top 6.

I'd love to think he really wanted to come to us instead Corran; but I think it's press talk and his agent muddying the water.

City is massive draw right now, not just because of the wages, but the pure talent of the squad. You are pretty much odds on for some silverware there right now.

yes City a better chance then Arsenal... but a better chance then Utd at the title? Dont think so.

At city there is no guarentee of regular football. All he is guarenteed is a much bigger wage then any other team would be willing to pay him. 160k-200k is something no one else would give him... BUT... he would have got a large sign on fee as there be no transfer fee which would make up for that in some ways.

City also run the risk of losing out on Europe. Yes they will argue the £400m deal with Ethid will allow them to be within rules, but there a chance that be removed from the accounts which means no europe for a few years.

No there isn't, the rules have a 3 year break in period, they can stop spending now and won't risk losing out until 2014 iirc.
