Indeed and as has generally always been the case you need a great defence to win the league or do well, although the problems for Chelsea don't just reside in defence.

It's so unbelievably frustrating that we have the same problems week in and week out. I want nothing more than for AVB to do well, but playing a high line simply will never work unless we sign two new CBs and a new RB. Drogba and Malouda, among others, need to move on and we need to make Sturridge our focal point.

Thing is.. watching Sturridge lately and I've come to reasoning that he isn't as good as he is being made out to be, a decent Kalou maybe, but he isn't going to be a top end striker.. seems the mass opinion of the Bolton fans may be correct.

AVB must be frustrating..what is it with managers not learning?

It seems that with Sturridge, you either have to put everything behind him and make him the main man, or leave him on the bench - you can't do anything in between. He has looked like he doesn't know what he's doing, frankly, a few times this season. The boy done good for me in FF this week though.

He's certainly got the knack of goal scoring. His contributions are very inconsistent, i'm sure being out of position doesn't help

Bolton fans found that, he would be invisible for most of the match then he'd score.. spose thats all he can do but he needs alot more to his game.

I'd go with what dave & callous have said; play him up front and he'd look far more comfortable, but he's unlikely to dislodge Torres or Drogba for that spot, and he's not really acquainted with wing play to be consistently effective out there.
