I know that but you can't give the ball away for 90 minutes to any team and expect to win more games than you lose. You keep saynig trying it against Spain is a waste of time, surely if you want to test yourself you do it against the best. Because let face it keeping possesion against San Marino is hardly a lesson learnt either is it. We would have lost nothing, non of the players expected a win, the media, the bookies all had Spain down as victors. So this was one occasion where they really could not lose.

They're my favourites to win.

And yes, Germany will try and play Spain at their own game and why? Because they have the talent to do so, something that we do not have.

And this is why I backed Germany to win the Euro's about 10 months ago :D

Test ourselves with a noticeable chunk of the players most certain to be on the plane to Poland/Ukraine not there? We all know what Spain can do, the idea (from my point of view) was to try and find a way in which to beat them, thats all you can do in football is find a way to beat the team infront of you.

This is not keeping possession against San Marino, different tactics for different teams, you can't blindly play the same formation and line up against every opposition when we clearly do not have the players up to the right standard for it. Your Spain can do that because for every Xavi theres a Fabregas waiting in the background, they loose Villa bring on Pedro, they loose Casillas bring on Valdes/Reina, they need someone upfront bring on Torres/Llorente etc etc you get the picture.

We know what happens when we try to play a more direct and attacking game against a strong team, 4-1 Germany speaks volumes for that, this was a weaker England, we played with what we could.

This is where we differ and I albeit may call it quits, I saw this a benefit result and line up as a benefit for tactical flexibility, belief and the most solid back four I've seen in a long time.

Also while I do think that to be a force England need to change their outlook in the long run, right now solid at the back is probably their strength.

Hell it worked for Ireland didn't it! :drink:

Prime reason #1 why International Friendlies should be banned.

The last 3 pages of this thread. What a waste of words.

Apparently LA Galaxy asked Robbie Keane to return to LA instead of playing tomorrow night, and he refused because he doesn't want to miss what could be "one of the greatest nights in Irish history for myself."

Good lad :D

What is it with you and telling England fans we're shit/aren't going to win anything? This stereotype that England fans are delusional mongs that believe football is coming home every two years just isn't true anymore. If anything you seem worse with overestimating Denmark.
I'm just saying the same as non-delusional england fans. You're not top tier anymore, face it. Your league might be the best in the world, but your players aren't.

As for Denmark, we have improved our style of football a lot and we won our group as "underdogs" to Portugal. We are currently in the top10 FIFA world rankings with as many points as Argentina and we never won a world cup. I've seen a couple of the England matches the past few months and most of them, sorry to say, have been either a complete borefest or horrible football

Erm...Pretty what most England fans already know/say. We haven't been good since 96 imo. However, we are better than Denmark at least :)

Did you leave before the end? You might want to check the result.
Well what I meant to say was we won't get far in a competitive tournament playing like that :p anyone who thinks we played well is pretty silly :p as I said, only positive about the entire match was the result.

And btw if all our players are fit, we aren't exactly shit on paper are we? we have some quality players, we don't need to sit back and defend ffs

I think you need to actually watch football and understand it before you can comment kid.

We aren't shit, but aren't Spain/Germany good at all our best XI vs there best XI would be a no contest. We are the same level as Italy.

Whoa.. this is revelation! Since when! O.M.G!

If you think Portugal are good, please leave the door. Having more ranking points then Argentina..? Will done there lad, they are woefully shit and scraped past Bolivia. Infact for even taking the rankings seriously means your opinion null and void. Go back to dominating your tinpot league.

Go back to struggling for relegation and your new FM mate. What suddenly made you the prophet of everything football related?

For actually having a vivid interest and seeing behind the blinkers that a select few seem to have on here. Seeing as everything I do involves football and I have a fascination with tactics and the scoting side of things I can safely say that I have a great deal of knowledge football wise, and by and far more then you.

Good one FM, really original there bud, maybe a constructive arguement on why you are correct next time rather then an insult at least Calean but up a great few points and provided something to actually reply too rather then a 'witty' one liner and usual +1 that you seem to spurn out on the regular.

And as for the relegation dig.. really? If you know me I couldn't care if Wolves played in the conference I'd still follow them exactly the same.

Here we go with the insults again, shows you are angry in real life, take a break perhaps and stop commenting?

And no, we are still on the same level as Germany, but we won't be in a few years if we continue to say "why the fuck should we try and actually PLAY against teams better than us, let's just be a bunch of fucking idiots and sit in our box for 90% of the match and 9/10 times get smashed either way".. negative tactics breed negative players.

Maybe in FM Germany are light years ahead of us, but not in the oh so glorious real life.

Whoa dude, what got in your panties? I say England played like shit, just like the rest of the guys on the forum, and you're slagging me for it? Your game against Spain wasn't well played, it wasn't pretty, but it was effective. The last few games I've seen England play haven't been entertaining, besides the Montenegro one, but that wasn't due to your great offensive or defensive skills on the pitch.

Also wtf with getting bitchy about me having a go at Wolves? You called the danish league a tinpot league, whatever the fuck that means, and I threw it back at you and you get cross? Get over yourself mate and grow the fuck up. All of your 19 years are really showing

If you think your passion for Wolves is greater than my passion for Copenhagen I am sorry to inform you that you could not be more wrong. I love my club and would go to every game possible, regardless of whether we were dominating the league, in the relegation battle or in a lower league.

They had the same debate on Talk Sport tonight but I had to switch it off, listening to Adrian Durham constantly say yeah but we won 1-0, without actually giving any valid reasons why made me rage and turn it off :p

There was a split between the listeners also similar to that here, although the people messaging in, in favour of the win spoiled their reasons by adding we are going to win the euros, and we are now the best team in the world.

I agree with Everz about Germany, but it's not because they have 11 better players than us, it's because they have a system in place at a younger level and when they graduate into the full squad they already know their role. @ England we spend far too much time worrying about how the other team is going to play and what we have to do to stop them.

Don't you support Manchest United and Copenhagen though? :(
Don't support United, I just prefer them over any of the other clubs in the EPL. Started back when Schmeichel was still there and I was still a kid, before the treble. Was told numerous times that it was impossible for a Dane to support an English team here on FH
and Valencia ! :p
I live closer to Mestalla than you live to Anfield I bet. What I am going to do? Stay here for four months and not go watch football?

Nothing wrong with it, but it is immensly irritating :p Especially if you tell people who support their local team their whole life to go back to relegation battles
