looking at the bigger picture i just cant help think if we spunk 50m on Torres then the rest of the areas that need refreshing aren't going to be

I can see the potential of Torres but it is with three slight issues which involve the possible money that is going to be used to get him, the injuries he has suffered and his recent bad form which perhaps could be down to the situation he is in with LP.

Put it this way, he struggled in Barcelona's B Team.

That said, Blackburn do well in developing young foreign youngsters. They give them time and game time, to develop. Olsson and Hoilet, 2 players who looked out of their depth at the start have been given game time and both look quality singnings.

Yeah but clubs do strange things, it isn't as if you have to look much further than the Ronney saga last year to see how fickle fans can be and how clubs base things on possible potential.

Don't get me wrong, but he was great and could still be. But he's a whiny bitch for us nowadays.

Carroll on the other side, is extortionate. If we'd gone in at 15 million I'd have been happy, but I guess you have to spend over the odds at this time of the silly season.

The only plus side is that we seem to be buying reasonable quality rather than large amounts of chod. Shame for Suarez tho, I think he'd have fitted well with Torres. Not sure now.

It would have been a good partnership in terms of talent, but not how they would play together. It wouldn't be a natural partnership. They both have similar games, mostly based around keeping the ball down and using pace. If Suarez gets matched up with Carroll that would be a more natural pairing with an untypical big man-small man combo. Untypical as in this case Carroll can actually do more than just the Heskey role.

Suarez/Torres would only really work if you played a fluid 3 and had Suarez on the left, Torres in the middle and I guess Kuyt or Meirelles on the right (although I'm not too sure how great Meirelles is out there...)
