So much for a recession eh? Today marks the day that football officially went nuts.

Good riddance tbh and 50 mil in the bank, thank you very much. As for Carroll, he is very young so plenty of room for improvement. 30 million seems a bit steep but he seems to be doing quite well this season.

Well if you had more then 80 million rupee's you might be able to buy more than a prawn sandwich to improve your team. Doesnt seem much of a war chest tbh more like a school lunch box :kissit:

Has anyone made a joke about Carroll staying at Gerrard's house yet?

Ah there we are a typical LP fan, makes excuses for his own clubs stupidity while trying to lambast others.

2035: Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp on Sky Sports News says there is "no chance" of the club signing a striker tonight, nor any chance of Peter Crouch leaving for Newcastle as Andy Carroll's replacement. "We were never desperate," he adds. Expect three arrivals to Spurs and the sale of the big man within the hour, then. Joke. Obviously.

Perhaps it is me but if they didn't need to why is it they seemed to be sniffing around so many different players.

lol you have just spunked £35 million up the wall on Andy Carroll who has zero experience at European or International level, go you! :D

I am much happier with Hernandez and the pittance he cost us. ;)

Jesus christ, go for Cavani for that money. Suarez+Cavani up front would be lethal.

because it's Harry "im not a fucking wheeler-dealer" redknapp who, as it goes, loves wheeler-dealing as any opportunity.

also he obviously recognises that spurs are unlikely to re-qualify for the champions league unless they get a better striker, and if they don't they're also likely to lose their players who should be playing in the CL, eg VDV, Bale, Modric.

Yep Spuds are a house of cards, no CL next season could see all three of those players move on. For good fee's granted but replacing them with the same quality is never easy and it unsettles the squad for a while.

they could both take several months before playing well in the EPL though

They've got 6 months to adept. What's in it for Liverpool this season? Are they able to qualify for anything?

They were saying on 5 Live just before that he'd been hawked around a few clubs a couple of weeks ago.

The barcodes have been looking to cash in. Unfortunately we're the mugs.

Does that make me an un-typical LP fan? :p

I guess it just shows the faith they have in him. He has shown some great potential, a lot to live up to though.

I reckon you need to be wary of young uber strikers when they're twice the size of most people, sometimes it can make them look better than they are.

Unfortunately we're the mugs.

I was set against the move and think that they should have forced him to stay until the end of the season and fob him off to some team outside the EPL.

However, on the other hand it was always going to be difficult to qualify for CL with him in the team and actually trying let alone if he decides to throw all his toys out of his pram, which he did when he handed in a xfer request.

50 Million - if that is in fact what they will pay - is an aweful lot of money for one player, in particular one that doesnt want to play for you anymore.

This way we can get a couple of players in as replacements and hopefully they will ahve an impact on the rest of our season and maybe, just maybe we will qualify for a CL place before it all plays out.

Well, I can see them going for EL next season. CL seems impossible (not statistically though).

I can see Megadaves point, but the Andy Caroll bid is crazy.

I don't think we can make EL either. But he will (hopefully) stay for a looong time so maybe it will pay off itself. He is also eligible for EL as that is our only chance of winning anything. I guess we payed as much as because of that as well. I do think we over payed with as much as twice to much tho :p

Now I'm going to bed, bitterly disappointed! Not in the transfer dealings but that Torres managed to fool me that much, I actually believed him when he talked about his love for LFC.

Clearly he has talent and at the age of what 22? He will only get better, unless he turns into another Wayne, i'm a granny shagging moany chav, Rooney result :)
