Maschernao is so over rated for me personally. Yes he breaks yup the play, but he is never nivolved in a quick counter attack and his range of passing is dreadful. Song/Diaby/Denilson can all do what masherano can and far more for the team. Masc is a mercenary and his attitude would not suit Arsenal.

But who will Lollerpool replace him with? No stories about them approaching anyone really, will the sale money just get swallowed up by the club? Will Keiten still think Torres is a god when he is playing in blue??

If Torres goes to Chelsea no doubt Liverpool would use the money to buy Suarez.

The only complication is that Ajax wanted negotiations to be done by tomorrow I think, so it'd need Liverpool to accept another bid pronto.

Personally don't think he'll go this window but come summer he'll be off unless Liverpool miraculously make it into Europe.

Benfica reported they'd received an offer and 'the market would be informed' when a deal was agreed.

As megadave says though, considering the alleged amount of money available if you believe all the deals (think it totals over 100m ), it's pretty tragic nothing's gone through.

He is a proper Defensive Midfielder, Denilson/Diaby/Song are not really.

I really doubt that, we can't replace a player like Torres in two days, and the deadline day for Suarez is tomorrow so yeah we would have to move fast.. and the money will not get swallowed up by the club, maybe 12 months ago but that period has gone now and we have some cash now.

Anyone saying we need backbone in the midfield central area is just reciting shite from last season, we're much better organised there now, provided Song is playing and Denilson isn't. Denilson is shit and can't track back. Song has been bloody ace all season, he's played the best of any of the top clubs' holding midfielders this season by quite some way.

You might not need backbone but (and I know you're going to say this is the same shite from seasons past) I really do think that what Arsenal lack is leaders. Someone like Viera or Keown that you had in the past. Cesc is a magic player but I don't think he has the grit that those had. I'm not saying that Mash has it either but if arse were aboe to get a couple of those I think they would walk the league personally.

Yeah, but we have 0 conceded goals the last 370 min or so with Agger on the field To bad he is injury prone! But we really, REALLY need a good CB to partner Agger. Hopefully we can go for someone in the summer.

True, however thats one area of optimism for me. We've had the 3rd/2nd best defence (goals conceded) in the league for the previous 4 seasons. Thats with Benetiz playing zonal marking at set pieces. The same players are still there however under Hodgson we shipped more goals already than we did in the entirety of the last 4 seasons. If Agger and Reina stay fit i dare say it will get a lot better under Dalglish and Clarke.

In some ways I agree, in others I don't. We're doing very well this season without such a "leader" and we have a couple of very dominant people in the team, or can do. Vermaelen organises our defence very well and is great at keeping up the spirits of people around him. He leads by example, it's just a shame about his achilles. Such a pain in the arse injury to get, it really is.

We've also looked a lot stronger since Szczesny's come in. Fabianski and Almunia were very non-communicative GKs, whereas Woj is loud, directive and knows what he wants from his defenders. I don't think it's much of a coincidence that our defensive record has improved since he's come into the top spot and Djourou's now finally able to play more than 1 game a week.

The other thing to think about is while we may need that leader, who would be available that would fit the bill, where would they play (we have a big squad and Wenger has never been a fan of bringing a player in ahead of someone he's been developing for a few years), and at the right price (even though we have money there's no point splashing £20m right now at all). I can't think of a player that we could get to improve the team in this manner.

Think Arsenal this season have come of age tbh, seem to have a reliable keeper since the young pole came in (cba to attempt the name). Seems there at least going to end the season with one trophy.
