Looks like we're spunking all over Benfica lately, and that Luiz will be a Chelsea player depending on a work permit hearing on wednesday. When was the last time a defender went for so much?

Chelsea are good at spunking money in Portugal for players that haven't really delivered.

Bosingwa - ~£16m
Ramires - ~18m
now Luiz - ~20+m

That's a hell of a lot of money on 3 players that haven't improved Chelsea's squad much, if at all. They really don't have a clue about the transfer market these days.

i agree, although to be fair, Bosingwa he had a good first season until his injury, Ramires hasn't been here long and you'd expect someone who was young and in Brazil just a couple of years ago to need some time. Cant rate Luiz yet obviously

When fit, Bosingwa's pretty much filled the gap that Gallas left when he went to Arsenal.

What about Ricky and Paulo too? I guess they were good so they don't count

I haven't seen any Chelsea fans who think we'll still win the league. We have a chance still but our performances aren't good enough to make me believe it'll happen.

I expect him to say 'we have a chance but we have to find consistency' not 'Man United should be worried'. Right now I am more worried about Arsenal, they are a good bit closer, City have a strong and capable squad too, JT needs to concentrate on closing the gap right now but as been the way for the last few years he seems to rather enjoy flapping his gums. If Chelsea want to win the league they need focus, not open shows of false bravado from their captain. Do it on the pitch a bit more and I will tip my hat to you but right now you are a potential 10 points behind and have not shown the form to overhaul either City or Arsenal nevermind us. Two wins in a row does not fix a piss poor run going back two full months.
