Wellbeck has had surgery - so Villa only have one striker in Gyan available until March unless they sign someone.

Look's like this will be quite the transfer window.

Carew is in talks with Stoke, he's met with Pulis today.

Sunderland not Villa :)

There's been alot of rumours flying around today that we're going to use the money from Bent in the summer, we'll sign a new striker or two to see us untill the end of the season so Im not expecting a big name striker to join. Steve Bruce and Niall Quinn have both came out and said thats the plan as they dont want to pay the over inflated prices linked to the January window.

let city pay above n beyond the full asking price, then let everyone else buy their rejected players on the cheap a year later xD

villa are cleary the bigger club.

if as a palyer you were given the option to play for villa or sunderland 9/10 would opt for villa......

its like saying liverpool are now a small club cos this season they're shit therefore fulham are a bigger club??

Liverpool are a small club.

:)

In all seriousness Gohan, if you take history out of it, Villa are no bigger than Sunderland right now. If Sunderland continue the good work they have done sine Short bought them, then they'll be bigger than Villa in terms of points on the board (which is all that ever really matters), and stadium attendances.

Bloody hell they get worse with each decision they make. There should be an IQ test as well along with the current checks taken by the League for new owners.

all teams are small unless they've won the european cup! even if it does involve beating 2 decent sides and a load of shit ones 40 years ago

hollar me when u win it 5 times mutter fuker

point is if a club has a history they will still attract top player (if thier willing to fucking pay for them at least)and surely being able to attract the top talent is what makes a club big?

Ok so maybe Leeds, Derby or Nottingham Forest were better shouts than Blackpool. Still the point remains the same, they all have history.

but blackpool arent a big club atm, they don't have the stadium or the fanbase or the backing

villa do

sunderland also do but without the history to match you kinnda need both

unless you get mega mega rich owener

his chelsea and man city xD

although in league one last year for instance everyone would rather play for southampton or leeds than tranmere or oldham as they have the history, southampton didnt even get promoted but still signed most of the best palyers in that division

leeds still have a massive fan base, an it's awesome to go watch a match there. Even if you're supporting the other team, really good atmosphere.

Sunderland on the other hand are pushing for a European place

And I hope you get it. But lets not forget that the last time you qualified for Europe the Bay City Rollers were in the top ten and a large number of your fan base and posters on this forum weren't even born, or were in small trousers.

Half a season of better results and a whopping 12 point advantage over the Villa doesn't make Sunderland a bigger team and it is utterly stupid to suggest otherwise.

For the record I hope Sunderland do qualify for Europe. I have friends in that part of the world and have a lot of time for the club. I also met Bruce last year at Villa Park and he seemed a nice guy. But ridiculous statement remains ridiculous.

Tur something I've meant to ask you for a while...you remember Eamon "chick" Deacy? His nephew was a friend of mine back home in Ireland and I met him once. Lovely guy.

So since I'm here I've been thinking about getting season tickets to DC United. Tickets in the "spectator" cheapish section cost $360 for about 20 games I think. Is that paying over the odds?

Diego Buonanotte has joined Malaga!!!! Ï'm going to start watching their matches. He's a BEAST if he can get back to the level he had before the tragedy.

Sunderland arent a bigger club than Villa in all honesty , if bent wanted to go to Turkey in the summer it seems he only used us to try and get into the world cup squad.

Most sunderland fans arent pissed off that he wanted to leave , its all the shite he has spewed while hes been playing for us ,"I love the area , the fans and i want safc fans to remember me like they do super kev etc..." then he wants away after the world cup.

If he had kept his mouth shut while he played for us , when he finally did want to leave there wouldnt be anywhere near as much hatred towards him as there is now.

Hes gone , now we move on.

How funny. I remember certain people in this thread, claiming history does play a part when determing who is the bigger club, when the argument was about their club in relation to the giants of barcelona and real madrid and now claiming history doesnt play a part when trying to troll turamber :D

Id say there isnt much between Villa and Sunderland. 2 mid table teams who arent going to win anything of note unless they do a Man City, besides maybe a carling cup but no one cares about that.

no, because you haven't seen him play.

His biggest problem is that he was in a big accident about 1.5 year ago or so, which has caused some problems physically and mentally. Before that, he was absolutely amazing. The ball stuck to his foot like messi.

It's being reported that sunderland have bid up to £3million to Stoke for Fuller. So Carew to Fuller , Fuller to Sunderland. Good short term cover for Sunderland.

where the fuck you know that i havent seen him play ?

Panathinaikos was interested to buy him the previous 2-3 years.

He stuck the ball to his foot like Messi ?

So does D'Alessandro, but in Europe was crap.

I think Fuller is a waste of cash on a permanent basis, unless Bruce thinks Gyan is going to replace the goals bent would have scored.
