Confirmed: BBC Sport - Football - Aston Villa's John Carew joins Stoke City on loan

Also, out of left field this one: BBC Sport - Football - QPR swoop for Wayne Routledge and Pascal Chimbonda

Chimbonda I can understand - apparently Blackburn have terminated his contract. But Routledge? He has had a good season for Newcastle.

Routledge is like Lennon and SWP undoubted talent on his day but generally as with the other two I mentioned there end ball is a disgrace, you'd think they could spend an extra hour or two after training practicing knocking the ball into the box.

No financial sense at all tbh. Makes a football academy in the USA where football isn't that big, makes it in fucking Ohio which is fucking nowhere and then runs it not for profit.

And charges £20k a year to join it.

to be fair at £40k/week it's not going to take him long to get out of it now that he's been declared bankrupt.

He's 39, hardly going to be playing for that long in the top flight -- maybe the end of this season and that's it. Hopefully he's got some smart advice and has assets in the name of his partner or in trust ... however these things work in the States.

I think you'll find he probably does have money, essentially it seems the business he had over there run up debts which has then resulted in the creditors forcing a bankruptcy through the courts to enable them to recover some money.

He's still good enough to go play in the MLS and be a big name there even at 40+.

So apart from Wazzer and Emb none of you get it. It had massive sponsors paying for it, they dropped out, hence the debt.

btw, when is harry redknapp gonna keep his fucking stupid mouth shut?

tottenham have NO basis to take over olympic stadium, west ham have a claim.

IOC members have said if tottenham take it over and demolish the running track, that would broken the legacy promise and they would NEVER have voted for london olympics.

i for one would rather have the trust of organisations such as IOC than pleasing spurs board... its got FUCK all to do with them.

hope those muggers gave him a fucking kicking while they were at it, the stupid Zelda lookalike mercenary gobshite.

Erm bullshit ilaya. The stadium needs a tenant, someone who will make use of it.

It will be shit as a footy ground with a track around it. West Ham fans don't want it, neither do spuds fans. Spurs bid is best for Uk athletics, redeveloping palace is the best way forward. The olympic stadium will have no legacy unless a footy club gets it, adn the atmosphere will be shit with the track. That said, the Spuds bid is just a bargaining tool with Harringate council to grant planning permission.

Also the IOC can fuck off, they are worse than FIFA.

TBH if you look at people involved in athletics they say redevolping Palace is a joke because the infrastructure and area are too shite for a top class development.
They actually want them to create a new athletics venue nearer to where the olympic stadium is but of course that would cost more money then spurs would be willing to pay out.

Honestly, I do not think there a way to keep anyone happy, and it really be interesting if Spurs get it, because they will face the Tottenham MP bringing up a court case against them to remove their right to trademark as Tottenham as they will no longer be based there. Could be an interesting court case tbh.

In that bbc report on Rafa, the guy is still delusional about the good players in the squad. Lucas, Skrtel, Johnson, Agger, aurelio and maxi. I mean wtf is the guy smoking.

I've never seen him hit a decent pass, a defensive midfielder nowadays needs to do more than just interupt the play, they need to be able to play and chip in with a few goals along the way. While he may have improved under Hodgson I can't see any of the top 6 teams in the premier league wanting to sign him if he became available.

Glad I took the risk and made Kuyt my captain this week, two fixtures for Liverpool, he could have a mahoosive points total after this week.
