Looks like Wenger is abit pissed off at the merse, he said "If you find one player who I asked to take an injection to play one game, no matter how big the game was, I would resign tomorrow morning." It's a bold statement an i can't imagine he would throw it out there idly. I just wonder why Merson would make any of it up.

I would take him at £12 million or less, good player and worth a risk at that price but no more. Personally I want Sneijder though, he has done it at a higher level and more consistently.

I was talking to my United mate recently about this. I said that surely Rooney has made that 'Sneijder' role his own this season so he'd be a pointless buy? You need someone more in the De Rossi mould, but probably not the man himself. A link up player to play next to Fletcher, a good version of Carrick. Schweinsteiger basically.

Much as I love Merson for his playing days, he's hardly the most reliable source is he? His head's still not fully right after the years of abuse, back then it was still really bad.

Painkilling injections are common indeed, I fully imagine Wenger is talking about the non-common place injections of dodgy stuff.

No, about a decade ago the story first broke, Arsenal giving players 'vitamin' injections and unspecified supliments than many believed to be cetamine which was not illegal anyway but definately performance enhancing. Regardless, it was never proven and anything now is just hearsay or speculation unless someone really in the know comes forward. The allegations have lingered for a long time though so there might be some merit although I don't think it ever went as far as illegal doping, note I use the words illegal doping, there was definately a regeime of supplement use there and stuff that was legal back then may well be banned now.

Not Kaka, Manchester is not for him and his fitness isn't right either. Sneijder however, well the Dutch tend to do well in English football and he seems mentally tough enough to cope here.

Two different players though really, I can see de Rossi moving to a Prem team this summer. I'd love him at Liverpool for around the 13m mark.
