Barca doesnt buy success it breeds it!

Edited for accuracy :D

Seriously though, in recent history, the only good signings we have made have been Eto, ALves and Pique. Hopefully Villa will be too, but we are nearly as bad as Man United for signing players who are gash.

no love for masherano now tbh

acting like a petunlant little prick and refusing to play so his cost comes right down and we have no choice but to sell on the cheap

exactly what barca tried to get fabregas to do, but he rose above it and showed he's a different class of player.

if you don't want to stay at a club thats fair enough but forcing a team to lose money on you by making it impossible for yourself to stay is retarded

liverpool should be able to sue him the difference in transfer fee tbh, that would stop all this shit

Still got my fingers crossed for a midfielder in this window. Denilson and Diaby can both be great but neither are consistent i would like a midfielder who always puts in a good performance. Trying to steal Scott Parker would be nice.

Masche :(

One of my favorite players but the way he has acted lately it still doesn't feel that bad of shipping him off, the fee makes me cry tho.

Put it into perspective. Milner went for circa £25m. £14m is an absolute snip for a player of the quality of Mascherano.

Milner went for twice his value, when it comes to City the prices are silly season. Oh and they are paying £20 million for Mascherano when you include all the extras. ;)

It's nothing like the Fabregas situation, the club promised Masch he could go a year ago. Now the issue with the fee is one for Liverpool to deal with, you can understand him not wanting to play and injure himself. Remember it's not actually him wanting to leave for footballing or financial reasons. You really can't expect him to not live in the same country as his wife. At the end of the day all the noise out of Liverpool has been that they will only sell when they are happy with the price, so they clearly must be.

Nice one Fergie...

Sir Alex Ferguson has dismissed reports that new signing Bebe has failed to impress in his first few weeks as a United player, launching an impassioned defence of the 20-year-old at his pre-match press conference.

The Portuguese's absence from the Reserves' midweek victory over Manchester City prompted a series of reports questioning his impact at United, but Sir Alex insists there are only issues with the player's fitness, not his ability.

"Bebe is in a programme of doing endurance work, because his fitness levels aren’t near the levels we’re at," the manager said. "Other than that he’s done well.

"He’s had a couple of attacks - I thought they were pretty vicious attacks - on why he wasn’t playing in the Reserve game. He was never going to be playing in the Reserve game on Tuesday.

"I think those attacks came from a bit of vengeance from two journalists who are banned from here. They saw an opportunity to have a go at the club and I think it’s disgusting. The boy didn’t deserve that. He’s a young boy trying to make his way in football, they didn’t need to do that. I think it was a real bitter attack.

"Ability-wise, he’s excellent. Terrific finisher, we’ve been very impressed with that, and it’s just the fitness levels he needs to get to, as opposed to our fitness levels."

Sir Alex is comfortable to take his time with the versatile forward, who has enjoyed a meteroric rise to prominence since joining United, and insists there is no reason to hasten his playing involvement.

"We’ve not done any serious work," said the manager. "We did some tests on him and there were one or two areas we need to work at, in terms of his fitness, and that’s what we’re doing at the moment.

"So he’s combining the physical work he’s doing with the sports science people, and the football part. We’re treading a bit carefully with it."

Cunting media hacks having a go at a lad before he has even had a chance to impress, shit like that can kill a players confidence.

The press are fuckin idiots at times.

Hes been playing semi pro football in a crap league. Even premiership reserve team level is a million miles away, fitness wise from what hes used to.

Yep, that's what I thought when I read that, along with, "mercenary", and "****". then I remembered who he plays for, and I thought; he'll fit right in then.

to be fair to him, and this is a very small concession. He is very Drogba like. If he is not the focus of attention and getting constant praise, he is a whiny little bitch.

Yep, but he'll be off to another "bigger" club in a year :)

Wigan really do seem screwed though. N'Zogbia was the one thing they had going for them.

I was speaking to a guy in work today talking about the future of English football. I wonder if it would be possible for centres of excellence to be developed by the FA and rather than young players being developed by the club they are developed by the FA.

What i hope this could do is help raise the standard of the game and it would also help share the talent out. Do a draft like in the NFL where the bottom team gets first pick or can trade that pick ect. It might help even the talent out between clubs and give some of the smaller clubs a better chance at competing.

I know there is not much chance of this happening when a quality player could just refuse the offer from the FA.

I think they started building an academy like the French one in 2000, but it's still not finished because that would actually help the country

Just let Trevor Brooking run the FA. The only man who knows what is needed, yet his plans for the National Football Centre are constantly changed and put on hold by the politics within the FA. The same one's that managed to spunk a whole lot of money up the wall for Wembley, when the Emirates was built for a 1/3 of the cost.

Don't forget changing the clause in Capello's contract about a week before he gave one of the worst managerial displays you'll ever see.
