Only mentioned negatively, sorry if you disagree but he has been a victim of character assassination since the Spurs goal and the media are a huge part of why he wasn't nominated for player of the year despite being a standout candidate.

Surely if it was Giggs it would be 'has won major honours at every club level' rather than 'won domestic honours'? That is what is being reported in a few places, nothing you can take seriously though.

Does it matter? I know the ABU brigade would love to tarnish his image, eats them alive that he has won so much and is still at it years after other 'great' players careers have dried up. It is different than Rooney or Terry though, he hasn't paid for it or cheated with a team-mate and close friends partner undermining his national side in the process. Also look at the places reporting it was Giggs, forums and blogs making vague statements doesn't make it fact and whilst nothing would suprise me these days (man having affair certainly wouldn't) I do find it all a bit of a stretch as the rumours are coming from forums or anon blog posts, you cannot judge if they are just shit stirrers or actually well informed.

Who is getting a rise from whom? You claim you want to discuss it, yet as soon as someone disagrees you take the cheap route.

No Nani, no Kompany, no David Silva and no Berbatov? No thanks. As for Bale, it is Player of the Year with the emphasis on year. Modric and Van der Vaart would get my nod ahead of him for that reason alone.

It does and always has when the player is held up as a good image, but having said that I'll stick to what I said in the past regarding about such events in that it is little more than hearsay so not worth worrying about.
