Rossi also counts for home grown which is very nice. Or is that just Trained at mufc?

Oh yeah, he's still one of FIFA's old guard, however another 3 or 4 years of Blatter would be a disaster. Some of Hammam's idea's for the reorganisation of FIFA are interesting.

I am truly shocked that 2 English clubs got drawn against each other and Barca got an easy draw :m00:

to be fair, while I take the piss saying it's a fix, Barca have got a bloody hard tie there. Shaktar have been bloody good this season, and their record against Barca is very good. They are also bloody hard to beat at home.

He should count as homegrown because he played for our under-18s iirc.

3 years at the club between the ages of 15 and 21 is the requirements... i reckon it would cost in excess of £25m to get him back though to be fair. And even then, without guaranting him regular football it wont happen, afteral that what he left us for (same with Pique).

Rossi and Hernandez uptop, Rooney playing behind them. Yes please :D
ANd and and... that formation works great on football manager. But on this new patch I decided not to buy Rossi and get different players. . .

Everyone forgets though, Rossi did not suit the English game as it stands. If it becomes more technical in the next 5 years, then yes he could adapt. But he's a slow technical player more suited to Spain or Italy.

Rubbish x 5. Really, total cobblers. :p

First of all, I saw more than half of Rossi's performances for the first team in person. He showed touches of brilliance but was very young, raw and physically not fully developed. He played 14 times for the first team and scored 4 goals but showed more than enough potential to make it at our club, sadly Fergie could not give him enough games due to the players in front of him showing good form. That is why he moved him out to Newcastle with the promise of regular football from the Magpies, unfortunately they took the piss and used him as a backup player playing out of postition or coming on in games they were already chasing. That is no way for young talent to develop, look at Welbeck as the blueprint for how it should be done. His next loan to Parma showed what he was capable of, another league with a different style of play and he bangs in 9 goals in 19 games, highly impressive for a very raw player in a very defensive league.

So, then United got a really good offer for the lad from Villarreal and he was utterly desperate to get another season of regular football. Fergie loved the lad, that was the only reason he let him go. He knew Rossi would make it and said so at the time but only if he was given a chance, sadly there was no way he could drop Rooney, Rudd or later Tevez to give Rossi the starts he needed to develop his game. So we sold him, got good money and also got first option on buying him back, short-sightedly we didn't agree a buyback clause as well.

As for Rossi's game, he plays alot like Hernandez, on the defenders shoulder or with his back to goal collecting the ball. He is versatile, much stronger than he used to be and whilst not quick over the distance he makes good runs and makes them early. At the right club with the right service he is a 20 goals a season striker in England, mark my words. Don't believe me? Ask the guys on here who watch Villareal and La Liga on a regular basis, when he gets a good run in the side he is a very good striker who is capable of playing in any league.

Think Cho sums it up pretty well, the lad has developed alot since leaving and would be a force in the Prem.

He's developed a lot and proved himself in a very different league, cho's got Rose tinted specs on. I think Rossi is great, but He's great in another league.

He proved himself in Italy as well, the most defensive league in the world and at a very young age too, he is a much better player now than he was then. Is it really me Ch3t or is it you? Vas lives and breathes La Liga, has been watching Rossi for four years and even he thinks Rossi is the real deal. Again as I said earlier, I have seen lots and lots of his games but especially this season with him being in such good form. He has now matured into a man and is delivering the kind of performances that would put him in the top 10 La Liga strikers easily, he is scoring freely in Europe against sides playing different styles of football as well, I am convinced he is ready for a bigger challenge be it in England, Italy or Spain.

Im telling you, Rossi is top club material. And Ive read hes eager and rdy for that next step in his career. Much much much better than Nylmar, and astonishingly, the brazilian has more credit around some circles.

Agreed, dont shrug off Shakhtar, they'll soon be one of the big boys of Europe, mark my words on that. The amount of money floating around Ukrainian Football atm shows this, and the amount of young talent going there.

Shakhtar will be more then a match for Barca.

I'd say if the regular La Liga watcher says hes 'top club material' then he is that heh.

Second leg is at home for Shaktar too which is a huge boost. Keep it level in Spain and they stand a real chance.

Yup. Eduardo, Srna, Razvan Rat, Fernandinho, Mkhitaryan and a few others are all quality players.

2-0 West Brom, Arsenals spring slump is well and truly in motion!

Edit - West Brom goal: Unbelievable. What on earth is Manuel Almunia doing there? Inexplicably, the keeper comes out of goal in an attempted to clear Youssef Mulumbu's ball over the top only to come up short and allow Peter Odemwingie the simple task of sliding into the open goal from 25 yards. Jens Lehmann watches on from the bench in disgust, and well he might.

:D
