In the 5-0 loss the Barca he was totally shit and he is totally shit against top teams in general.

Ronaldo played in the toughest league in the world for scoring goals (Serie A) and came away with 59 goals from 99 games. Now i wonder how many goals mega sulk would score in Italy, with the type of tight, tough, sometimes vicious defending he would face on a week to week basis.

Statistics can and are misleading at times. You can knock em out any which way you like but the fcats speak for themselves. 2 WC's a scoring ratio that, considering the injuries he has faced are off the scale. Compare other players who ahve come back from that type of injury and see what they have done on coming back.

Don't hold it against the guy for bum raping your team in front of your own fans :p

People said the same shit when Cristiano went to Madrid, he wouldn't score as many, he would never beat Fatlads total. All bullshit. He has already outscored the golden goofy one on a per game basis and will continue to do so. If Messi was not on the scene he would be head and shoulders the best player on the planet and the you haters would still be in denial.

You see, some of you are trying to make out that I am belittling what fatlad achieved but you I am not and will not, he was brilliant and had a magnificent career. What I am doing is saying Cristiano is up there in that class and is well on his way to not only matching fatlad at Real Madrid but actually obliterating his record, sadly none of you can get beyond your United hatred and accept it.

No, the way you are coming across is totally removing anything the Real Ronaldo achieved and paving your lad in a road of gold and glory, when clearly he has not done enough in my (and most peoples eyes) to be up there with Ronaldo, simply put. Can tell the arguement is being lost on your side, the old 'your ganging up on me cos hes united' excuse is coming out.

Another dodge!

We are comparing goal ratios, not games played. Look at the numbers and then come back to tell me they don't bare comparison.
Football isn't just about hard stats though

Wiki only notes down League games. Doesnt include cup games(FA, League, CL) or state games(Brazil Championships). On the sidebar that is.

3 league titles, loads of cups, Champions League, Semi of the Euros and a Ballon Do'r. I think he is well on track considering his age. He probably won't win a world cup but then he doesn't play for Brazil.

Still, you won't admit he has a phenomenal goal scoring record for a player who has spent 75% of his career playing as a winger. Is it me, or is it you?

Where have I once said I think new Ronaldo isn't a great player? All I've said is that hes not up there with the real Ronaldo simply as he hasn't performed for club and country, and on the bigger stage(before you scream CL!, he was wank in most matches). His scoring record is brilliant, and is the same arguement I use for Zlatan being quality also. At 1998 WC Ronaldo pretty much carried Brazil and in 2002 drove them on despite only just coming back from a crippling injury. Ronaldo has been poor if maybe average for Portugal for most of his playing career with them, he suffers from the same issue as Messi. A true world-class player is able to change a team (Zidane, Maradona, Ronaldo). Time will tell on the both of them of course.

I think Everz can't understand why you are comparing them. I haven't a clue why you are all getting so worked up.

They HAVE THE SAME NAMES! MUST COMPARE!!

Well two can play that game.

Lets compare.... Alan Smith and Alan Smith

What I want to know is; what does Ian Holloway make of the stats?

Hunt him down and ask him Mr Evil!

Well, as I said before Ronaldo had a magnificent career and I won't detract from that. Cristiano is already well ahead of the curve when it comes to matching his record at Real Madrid, within a year from now he will already be over the hills and far away in that regard. He also had a magnificent career in England as well, his final 3 years here were crowned with a ton of silverware and a Baloon D'or. You might all hate him but continuing to deny what a brilliant player he is just comes across as total bias.

the most pathetic thing i've ever seen you post

No the most pathetic thing about all of this was people neg repping me for posting my opinions whilst not abusing anyone, I added to the discussion and didn't offend anyone. Sadly it seems some of you can give it but not take it.

I won't bother anymore.

My understanding is that he is highlighting how well new Ronaldo is doing in comparision to the old one, i'm playing devil advocate.

I have no hate for Ronaldo at all, actually admire him as a player, hes definetly up there currently but as for my reasons stated above I'm not rating him above the originals.
