That league cup tie will be a very spicy affair, particularly as its at the Sty. Can't imagine the police will be looking forward to that evening too much.

Also to continue a fapfest. Fabio taking more looks at Jarvis, and deservedly so, hes such a class above and has been ever since, proved lately to be an absolute terror for every defense hes come up against. A throughly deserved call-up if he gets it.

Just as Man Utd kick off, Nani feigns an injury as soon as someone goes near him...Oh he's just gone down in the box now. I'm sickened by his foul play. Every game he hassles the ref.

Was a good game. Spurs final 3rd play was bad and I think we were the deserved winners.

Feel sorry for Spurs regarding the Nani goal.

That is such an outrageous decision, and what terrible sportsmanship from Nani and Ferdinand. Hopefully Clattenburg will be sent to ref in the Blue Square for a few weeks, but it sure leaves a bad taste.

Blackburn deserved a point atleast .. Damyou Roberts ;x

All things considered Chelsea haven't exactly played that well since Lampard was injured so can't say I'm unhappy at all with how we've managed to hold on to the top position, although I guess that says more about lost chances by the following pack.

It's not Nani's fault, the ref had not given a free kick so the ball was still in open play, according to the letter of the law it is a valid goal.
It should have been a Tottenham free kick though and at least a yellow card to Nani for diving and a deliberate hand ball, which both the referee and the linesman failed to see or just decided not to give it. I hope the ref gets sent to non league for a bit, he is having some terrible games.

There is a very strong argument on the Guardian website along the same lines. I can't agree with it though. The ref was allowing play to carry on as Spurs had the ball ... however no advantage accrued to them so he should have disallowed the goal and allowed a free kick to be taken.

Doesn't matter anyway, Spuds didn't scorse, couldn't score, two shots on target all day compared to United's ten. The right side won, if the officials made a mistake then it was an honest one but frankly all the refs who are asked are saying Clattenberg followed the rules 100% and that is was Gomes who made the mistake.

Oh and this...

Anyone who thinks Nani shouldn’t have put the ball in the back of the net, when Gomes put the ball on a plate for him, is kidding themselves. Nani knew he had been fouled in the box and no penalty had been awarded. He also knew that he had touched the ball with his hand and no freekick had been given. So, what was he expected to do when Gomes assisted a goal for him?

The fact that Gomes picked the ball up and threw it 10 yards from where the handball had occurred was just a minor detail. As was Rio Ferdinand’s permission to listen in to the referee’s conversation with the linesman, after the ranting Spurs players had been waved away.

But the underlining factor here is that footballers do whatever they think they can get away with to give their team a better chance of winning. And would the fans have it any other way?

When Younes Kaboul pulled on Nani’s shirt in the box, he did it because he thought he could get away with it (which he did) and because he knew it would give his team a better chance of winning if he fouled Nani in a goalscoring position. No penalty was awarded so Spurs will have been glad of his quick tug.

Just like Palacios thought breaking Ronaldo’s leg would put Spurs in a better position to win the game two seasons ago. Fortuntely Ronaldo jumped out of the way, but the player got away without even a booking, let alone the red card his challenge on 6 minutes deserved.

When Mike Dean allowed Tom Huddlestone’s winner against Fulham to stand two weeks ago, after the linesman had correctly flagged William Gallas offside, did the Spurs players protest? Did the Spurs fans? Of course not. They will have been very happy that an officiating error gifted them a win against another London club.

When Stoke City had a perfectly legitimate goal ruled out at the beginning of the season, with Peter Crouch’s attempts to keep it out failing, did Spurs protest? Did they confess that actually the ball had crossed the line and that they didn’t deserve their 2-1 result and three points? Unsurprisingly, no. They smiled sweetly at Chris Foy then got out of that shit hole as fast as they could.

We could go on and on, looking at results teams get because of poor decisions by the officials and dishonesty of players, but what purpose does it serve? On two occasions already this season, with just ten games played, Spurs have picked up three points when they should have collected just one.

Which is why their controversial goals differ from the one that was scored today. Essentially, 1-0? 2-0? What difference does it make? Spurs didn’t score a goal whilst United scored two, one fair and square and one in controversial circumstances. Would it have been better if one had been scored from a penalty from a tug of the shirt in the box? It’s irrelevant.

You can’t help but notice that Spurs are becoming the Liverpool of the south, whining about everything that goes against them whilst holding an oblivious stance to everything that goes in their favour.

Shall we get out the black armbands for their next visit?

The controversy, at least from where I'm standing, is a referee dropping a bollock of the highest order -- not the teams involved in the game.

We've got no passion, no commitment and seemingly no desire to contest this match. Fucking shower of shite from the first whistle to the last.

But yet you think it's unsporting? Ridiculous, Nani took a gamble, the ref gave it. Footballers push the limits of the game all the time, it's not unsporting. Gomes made a mistake by not waiting for the refs decision.

Yes it is unsporting and I should have re-iterated that. Nani knew he was in the wrong, and Ferdinand had the cheek to go to the match officials and berate them for even disputing the goal.

Footballers push the limits of the game all the time, it's not unsporting.

Sounds like a pretty good definition of "unsporting" to me.
