Not a bad return for £30m. One good game.

COme back Veron, all is forgiven.

Nah, he does a lot more then Veron ever did :p

And it not just that 1 game. He does good stuff in most games, however i get annoyed at how he can totally kill a counter attack by changing the pace of the break at times... but then valencia done the same on wednesday... he seemed afraid to run at the defenders and this is currently what we are lacking I think. Only certain players in team can really go on a counter attack at pace which in recent years has been one our strengths.

Reason I spoke about Berbatov here was the fact it was like Night and Day. The change in the game was so clearly noticible when he came on due to a different dimension he added.

Dont get me wrong, he clearly is too lackluster at times for him to be the best choice in all the games, however when he in the mood he was in on wednesday he gives us that extra something that helps us create... but we I feel we need that something more infront of goals at time as cant expect Rooney to be effective at all times in this department.

Guess I just got to accept that at times I am going to want to strangle Berbatov, and at other times Im gonna want to praise him. Just wish he would put more "passion" into his plays at time... thouhg i have noticed he begun to chase the ball and sticking in a few tackles now, so he heading the right way

I feel for Pompey i never though they would be the first Premiership club to go bust but it seems it could happen.

What a great finish by berbatov. Should make this game interesting now :D

Glad at scholes coming off and good old Anderson on

edit:
Sunderland take the lead, another goalkeeping error from Foster. He needed to just put a fist through the ball and not try catch that :(

Absolutely horrific performance from us so far, ridiculous red card for Richardson just now though. Let's hope it gives us an edge in the last few minutes. *prays*

we dont deserve a result today.. throughout the team has been awful.

Cant actually think of a good thing to say about the team beyond the finish by berbatov

Honestly dont know what to say about that all in all.

Got the point, which is harsh on Sunderland.
Red card, could see that have gone either way but the offense was back the way he kicked the ball, guess it depends on the "intent" in it. iirc that the first time Richardson played at OT since he left us due to suspensions/injuries the last couple years.

Foster should be dropped for a bit, he costing us to often at the moment. VDS should be back soon thank god.

Moment I saw the teamsheet and saw no Giggs on the bench I said we could be in trouble... hate it when fergi plays welbeck on the wing and he was lackluster the whole time.

Anderson seemed to be fired up and worked hard in the middle of the park, something we lacked first half. He seemed to snap at their heels more then anyone else.

If they played as they did in the last 10 minutes for the whole game then it may have been different, but we lacked any passion it seemed until just before the red card... then when they down to 10 it seemed we finally had some belief that a result could come. Was lucky how it came, and Sunderland should be proud of themselves.

silly red and unfortunate deflection but i'll take the dropped points, hope we can capitalise and go top tomorrow!

foster has surely failed this trial period, been poor the majority of the time. nice goals from bent and berba though

Bastards! Bit of a sickener that equaliser, I'd say apart from the first and last 10 mins of the second half we more than matched Man Utd, would have taken a draw before the game, feels like 2 dropped after. FTM

I feel for foster, the team did him no favours at all today, he could do nothing about the first goal, and the amount of times they keep kicking him the ball when it's being chased down is stupid, they should just kick it out for a throw in to give the lad a break.

He's a superb shot stopper, but he now needs to start learning his trade as a goal keeper and that means commanding his box, and improving his decision making. Vidic was shocking again today after being raped on wednesday, Scholes was horrible, poor wellbeck out of position, Nani was shit until the last 2 minutes, Fergie dropped the ball today, with Chelsea and liverpool playing tomorrow he should have fielded a much stronger team to put the pressure on the both of them.

We needed Carrick in midfield for distribution today, and Valencia, Giggs or Park instead of Wellbeck and Nani.

Well played Sunderland. They can put in very impressive performances, but also very lame ones. I'd hope that, as the season goes on, they will be more consistent.

It also shows the quality gap in the managerial abilities of Steve Bruce and Roy Keane.

Bruces signings this season alone showed the gulf between the two tbh.

What Bruce has done where Keane didnt is to give us a strong spine, we now have Turner Cana (who is rapidly becoming a huge cult figure up north) Cattermole and Bent. Add John Mensah to that as a big strong central defender and its made us a tougher team.

Cana in particular has made a huge difference, how we managed to sign him I dont know, he bosses the midfield and just sits infront of the defence giving them a screen and a bit more confidence.

I disagree, yes Bruce has better players and wiser signings, however the major difference is Bruce is an experienced manager who has been through it all before. He can deal with pressure (something Keane has to learn), and knows how to motivate (keane by all accounts can only shout).
