its a different situation because in darren fletchers case he was punished for something the referee decided was wrong (i am not getting into whether it was the right decision thats a whole different kettle of fish), however in this case eduardo misled the referee and so was not punished during the game (crucially in this instance the referee never made any reference to diving of eduardo so the governing bodies can do something because it had effectively nothing to do with the referee, though it does reflect badly on his decision making)

doubt that the FA/UEFA will start charging every player that dives with two match bans, would be an insurrection from the big clubs who tend to get the most stick for diving (drogba, ronaldo, gerrard, anelka, eduardo, adebayor, hear many complaints about Andre Bikey diving? nope because no one cares :p )

I get what your saying but you could argue Cesc went over easy in the Fletcher challenge so mislead the ref and got him the booking?

Ones things for sure, Paul Hart is building an average Championship club at best!

Prince boateng fucking LOL the only thing I remember seeing prince do is pulling his short sleeved footie top further up his sleeves to show off his tattoo as he was waiting to come on as a sub against Newcastle in his debut season!!!!!

Nice win today. Great team performance, Essien in particular was awesome, he was everywhere.

Brian Jensen really is a beast though :)

How is the Fletcher challenge not a foul but the van persie one a foul and yellow card. That was shocking.

Andy Gray defended the dive right away "he is entitled to dive because Almunia left his arms out"

Did not defend the Eboue dive infact the commentators called that a dive but Ronney going down is fine.

And im happy with the game we were the better team and with out the dive and own goal man u were not really a force.

unlucky arsenal... you were the better team for about 60minutes and the penalty came against the run of play.. need to see the penalty decision a few more times to decide on it as was in the kitchen when won it so only seen it from 1 angle.

After the goal it equaled out and was a thrilling match, though laughed at arsene on the disallowed goal, and the sending off was a bit of fun there. He wanted to be king of the castle :D

So bad luck arsenal. Glad we got the win even if didnt deserve it. Great save by foster start of 2nd half to make up for the goal

Alan Green is going to town with the Arsenal fans on 5 Live, he is completely insistent that it was a definate penalty. He never goes to bat for United so I am pretty convinced the referee got it right now.

Arsenal deserved something out of the game, they were dominant in every aspect. Penalty, almunia should not have been out and tbh, if rooney had of stayed on his feet it would not have been given but that's not his fault, referee's never give a penalty if the attacker stays up even if it's a foul.

Eboues was far worse, and even most ridiculous than eduardos in mid week.

3 points I'll take em, but Arsenal will be challenging for the league this year I reckon!

I would like to say Eboues was a dive and i glad he got subbed off it was shocking. But The Penalty was a blatant dive as soon as he knocked the ball away from the keeper he started to go over and that is just as bad as what Eduardo did. He set out to deceive the ref and was lucky Almunia ended up touching him. I do not think its right that because the goal keeper will touch you you are entitled to fall on your face.

And yes I am bitter.

Ok, rooney "won" the penalty.

By that I mean he could have avoided the collision, but like any forward he made sure he didnt. No reason he has to jump out the way of the keeper.

With that said, he made sure that the referee saw that there was contact. So yes, went down looking for a penalty. Think it was a penalty, but the manner of going down to be sure to get it is a bit ecks!

Could be worse, he could have been like v.persie :p

If he waited for contact then went over you could say he won it and he does not have to jump over the keeper. But as he started to fall as soon as he knocked the ball out of play its a dive for me.

I have still not forgotten Rooney took a dive to end the unbeaten run so im having none of the he earned it he took a dive then made contact. You may as well all agree or i will just keep posting that its a dive!

post what you want. everyone entitled to their opinion! Im not going to agree with you just because you say so, there was contact so no matter what it would have been a penalty... unlike a certain couple of players who went down when was half a foot between them and the opposition and no contact at any point

if you start droping before contact, then it's a dive no matter what comes after that.

"I havent seen the incidant appart from that pic"

so from a neutral point of view, it looks alot like a dive..

I was not serious :) But when Rooney started going down he was half a foot away from the keeper.

I think its plain to see but people seem to think when there WILL be contact its a gray area. I have heard managers say that when a players gets in the box if he can not score but can get a penalty why not.
