We did well against a pretty strong Spuds side, Gibson and DeLaet looked very composed at times. Pretty pleasing result considering how many young reserves we fielded.

Theres obviously potential bananaskins in the Italian teams and maybe Lyon, but with the best defence in the English league and arguably the best strike pairing in the world at the moment it would take two shocking performances on our behalf to go out.

I think most of the big name Euro teams from outside England look very shaky so far in Europe, and that drawing a big name early will actually benefit Utd and Chelski.

That was an utter disgrace of a performance, and a diabolical game in general. I swear Gomes had less to do that Kusczak, he had no chance with either of Gibson's shots (our defence just let him have space to shoot), and David Bentley is so unbelievably shit I don't think he'd fit in Harriers' squad.

Keane and Defoe just didn't work together, and the amount of times we played utterly pointless balls across the field was a joke. Bale and Lennon looked pretty good on the left, but when your combined age is less than Neville's what do you expect, it's a shame no-one put a single good ball into the box until something like the 78th minute.

The only positive is that unlike most of the away fans I only had to travel 30 mins by tram/bus to get home. I'm now caught in 2 minds as to whether I want to trudge up to Blackburn in 19 days time, we're just utter garbage away from home

Well you weren't against the Villa on Saturday evening. Admittedly first half you couldn't string three passes together and just tried to hammer long diagonals onto Crouch's head -- but second half you were different class.

Mind you the Villa forwards and midfield went completely missing in the second half, but Spurs in full flow are quite a sight.

It seems to happen when ever you play a top 4 team, or another team challenging for top 6 places. It's a confidence thing and it has to come from Harry, you just drop back to poor passing and long balls against good opposition.

He's coming along very well. His final ball is sometimes lacking but the lad never stops running. Has a good shot on him and can tackle too. He is also very willing and will play wherever the manager sees fit. Has ended a number of games at right back and not been found wanting.

And my bad, apparently he was in central midfield last night but he, Downing and Ashley Young were rotating between the flanks and central midfield.

What Milner lacks in skill he makes up for in work ethic, thought Newcastle royally screwed up when they let him leave. For me he should be in the World Cup squad.
