I got a £150 rebate just before christmas. Here's hoping I get another as my xbox just died. 3rd xbox now. Of course none of them were in warranty.

You only need to complete a tax return if you are not on PAYE or have any additional income on anything non-standard e.g. rent, interest (if you're a higher rate taxpayer - although I've yet to meet anyone who has registered just for that!), dividends, self employment, second job (possibly but PAYE should be able to deal with it) etc. A person in normal employment should be on PAYE and have tax and NI deducted at source.

Or NT Coded / live abroad but have some income paid in UK - housing leases etc. Had to do them for 5 years before they gave up.

I got a couple of grand off January's tax bill, unfortunately it was due to several thousand pounds of bad debts :(
Any chance of recovery? We use a solid firm of solicitors who specialise in nothing but debt collection (another solicitor recently referred to them as "those fucking debt collectors, they've even got me before now). If their details are of any use to you let me know.

Just got a begging letter of the revenue, seems they have set up a department to chase self employed who
don't pay all their taxes, presumably an off shoot of the impressive department that tracks down corporations for non payment.
Anyway it just says, 'If you haven't paid enough tax, ring us'.
No shit...why didn't they think of that before.
