Well I told you all I would keep you informed on the Cable Modems from Telewest......

We will have information on this on the TW web site on March 31st (www.telewest.co.uk/hsi)

Information we have currently is that the monthly subscription will be £50.00 inc vat, installation price £50.00.

Monthly subscription includes rental of CM, but you have to get your own NIC card fitted.

512K download, 128 Upload.

Different regions have different launch dates, I will post another message with these on Saturday.

If anyone is interested then go to www.telewest.co.uk/hsi after 31st March and there will also be a feedback form to complete to register your interest when someone will call you back.

Hope this is of interest to ya's

BTW, Please don't ring Telewest Customer Services about this because very few of the staff even know what a dial up connection is let alone Cable Modems, and so you will probably get the standard response "Duh" from most of them (unless you speak with me of course!!

Well its all well and good saying that, but when I phoned up Telewest this is what happened....

[Telewest]Bird: Hello, Telewest customer services - how may I help you?

[CuStOmEr]Me: Er, can i speak to Diamanda please?

[Telewest]Bird: Diamanda sir? this line isnt really for personal calls.

[CuStOmEr]Me: Its related to your High speed internet services.

[Telewest]Bird: Oh, hold on, I'll just check.

[Telewest]Bird Plays a Tune while [CuStOmEr]Me waits patiently.

[Telewest]Bird: hello, Sorry to keep you waiting sir.

[CuStOmEr]Me: nps

[Telewest]Bird: I have checked for a Diamanda but theres no record of him/her having worked here.

[CuStOmEr]Me: Er, are you sure? he posted to the barrysworld bulletin board.

[Telewest]Bird: barrysworld?

[CuStOmEr]Me: OMG, you LLAMA, just get ME DIAMANDA!! keyboard llama.

[Telewest]Bird: I'm sorry sir but no Diamanda works here.

OK.

First off, which area are you in? Do you know how many franchises we have around the country? Do you know which office I am in? Do you know my real name?

Oh, my mistake, my parents REALY DID christen me Diamanda, or Formerly Nanny Ogg, which would mean I REALLY AM from a small mountain village called Lancre on the Discworld!

Get a life!

Or am I wrong for thinking your name *really* is *Exor* ???

And I really think it shows your level of intelect by just ringing any Telewest office and asking for me by my Internet name - even if I have mentioned where I live what right do you have to say that TW staff are Llamas - we all clearly have a better grasp of reality than you!

I said DONT ring customer services - I said look at that web page on the 31ST MARCH!!!!! Two weeks away!!! because the staff wouldn't know what you are talking about.

Asking for me by my Internet name.!? HAH!

Aha! So you are a liar and a moron as well as a dickhead!

Yes, I *DO* believe you would have called Telewest about this, I read the thread titled "I'm Worried", which you perpetuated for nearly 150 posts, and it is quite clear that you are a lame arsed loser, who is in a dreamworld clearly beleiving that you DO earn as much as you claim and are sadly lacking in both intelegence and wit.

In short you are probably nothing more than a jumped up YTS kid, on barely £100 a week who needs other people to take notice of you in order to satisfy your ego, which is obviously not being tended to by anyone else and your appauling language just proves how immature you really are.

Do you play with yourself when you read the flaming messages you incite? Does it turn you on to think that other people are responding to you?

If any of you *normal* people out there would like more info I will post when I know but I am not going to inflate your ego any more by retaliating to you.

LOL

Stop trying to make this look like MY fault.
I posted the message up there purely as a joke!!!! it was pretty darn obvious that the conversation DIDNT take place.

If you need anymore prove that i meant it as a joke go to my old Site @..
http://fed.cix.co.uk/Maskaler

...then go to the log poems section...thats all i was attempting to produce up there ^^ a bit of humour, but YOU took it too seriously.

*sigh*

Ohh, and no, I am not a YTS kiddy on barely a 100 quid a week, perhaps you would like to see the car i bought last week...thought not, I have already made u look like a fool one too many times.

Active Digital is telly, and only telly. The (pretty clued up) Telewest chap I spoke to (when I ordered Active Digital) said there were no immediate plans to launch Cable Modems. So don't get too excited yet.

And fucking ROFL, that log poem was hilarious Paul. Diamanda, it wasn't his fault that you took something as a joke and treated it as if it was serious, so don't get arsey when you get told so, else you just look like you're digging yourself deeper.

OMG! there's two of them!

The original post if you look was put up by me months ago, long before Active Digital was launched. I have simply followed on with information about the CM service which is due out pretty soon.

Are you two joined at the dick or something?

Sorry Frankie, I don't know what parts of the country the Franchises cover - if you can normally get Telewest services then you are in a TW Franchise.

Sounds good to me, but wtf is going on. Living the Birmingham Cable area (owned by Telewest) I was originally told early this year for cable modems. Then recently they said "oh sorry, next year now", and now you say June ??? I know this is Birm Cable rather than Telewest direct but all these different messages are rather confusing (and I now find myself doubting anything Im told on this subject)
Do you know which departments we should be asking to talk to on this one (without asking for you direct
wink.gif
-- /me avoids going into that little conversation !).
I mean with BT intoroducing cut rates and the problems of cable surf unlimited Im really beginning to wonder about staying with cable -- I only came back for modems and I've already been miskled on times once already ....

Hiya, ive got a few questins for you here, hope you can hlep =)

The PCs in my house are on a LAN (10baseT with a hub). I assume we connect the cable modem to the hub. Can all the PCs access the internet using the cable modem? At the same time?

Would we need to use some kind of 'Internet Connection Sharing' software? At the moment we use seperate dial up connections on seperate phone lines.

Heh! you go away for a week and come back to 20 questions!
smile.gif

OK, First off, Lynchett, I dont know what is happening with the Birmingham Cable areas, sorry, but I will try and find out for you and if you can wait a few days I will post what I know here.

Yes, finga we all missed you,
smile.gif
, Baby is fine although I did have a bit of a scare a few weeks ago, but things are back on track again - I am almost 20 weeks now and looking fat! As for Exor's post I hadn't read the one titled "I'm Worried" before I replied to him, if I had I would have just ignored him as he is clearly a....... no, no I am not getting back into that again
wink.gif

Spudgun, sorry, I am really not that technically minded, although I am sure some of the other board members here would be able to offer you some help on splitting the connection across your LAN, I am certainly going to try it here because we have two pc's connected - but that's my hubbys department not mine so I will be leaving it all up to him

No, you can't connect the cablemodem to the hub, what you have to do is connect it to one of the networked PC's and run somthing like windows 98 second edition, use ICS (internet connection sharing) to share the connection to the rest of the LAN, remember that the machine running 98SE has to use a real-world IP, not one of the normal intranet ip's (e.g. not somthing like 10.0.0.x of 198.168.0.x). If you use 98se it will need no xtra software.

by the way, you can't put the entire lan onto the same game server simultaneously - they will have the same real-world IP - i.e. the IP of the 'gateway' pc. But you could host a game server and connect other people via the connection
smile.gif

Hope this helps..

you CAN put multiple machines on the same game server from one connections - i've done it!

i used a little utility called Gameproxx

basically its just proxy utility that is specifically for games. or wingate works too

but.. 2 players on 1 33.6 modem isnt worth the hassle LOL
